People sometimes ask ... who is our typical volunteer?

The short answer is that we have people from all walks of life: From active retirees to young families, from small business owners to students, from community leaders to environmentalists.

What we all share is a desire to make our community a better place in small and tangible ways, to be a part of something bigger than ourselves and to get outdoors and have fun doing it!

So come out and join us at our next event in Ocean View park this Sunday, Nov 8, 10 to noon, and help give the park a healthy start to winter.

Tools, training and treats provided, no experience needed, and all ages are welcome.

🍂 We're back in Ocean View Park! SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8th (10:00 - 12:00)

In October, our volunteers cleared about 4 cubic metres of Blackberry, Holly, Ivy and Daphne. But there's more to do so we’re heading back to keep the momentum going.

There's two options for this work party: Tackle the nasty blackberries choking the native trees or doing some easier daphne and Ivy removal: You'll decide which team you want to join. We’ll have tools, training and treats.

🌲 20 years! That’s how long Roger and Abby St-Pierre have been caring for Latoria Creek Park. This Sunday, Oct 25, 10 AM to noon, we’re doing what good friends do - we're lending a helping hand.

Here’s what to expect:

We'll give training on the spot, so no experience is needed. We'll bring tools, gloves and safety gear. And, there'll be treats when we’re done 🍪 Plus, Latoria Creek offers a variety of options for what to work on: Some nice and easy removal or some challenging stuff - you decide.

All you need to bring is sturdy boots or shoes, clothes that can get a little dirty and water.

Roger and Abby have given 20 years to this park. Two hours from us goes a long way. Comment “I’m in” and we’ll see you there.

🍁 Happy Thanksgiving Colwood! 🍁

What a beautiful Saturday morning at Ocean View Park where 14 wonderful volunteers cleared about 4 cubic metres of blackberry, holly, ivy and daphne. Thank you, “Friendsgiving” crew! 🙌

We want to give a huge Thank You to a much larger group: every single person who has supported us over the past year. In the last 12 months, over 150 volunteers have contributed more than 700 hours across 43 events in parks and trails throughout the City of Colwood.

Together we’ve:
🌿 Improved our parks and trails
🤝 Created connections and strengthened our community
😊 Made new friends along the way

🍂 Friendsgiving in the park!

NEXT SATURDAY October 10, 10 AM to 12PM at Ocean View Park, on Thanksgiving weekend.

Bring a friend, a neighbour or the whole family and spend a couple of hours looking after one of Colwood's loveliest parks. It's an easy, friendly morning. We'll have tools, training and treats for everyone, and no experience is needed. First-timers are especially welcome.

This SUNDAY, we're back at Lookout Lake, this time at the North side entrance — 3401 Sunheights Drive.

As always, tools, training, snacks and refreshments provided. Just show up, meet your neighbors and together let's improve a little corner of our community.

We're targeting Holly along with Ivy, Daphne and Blackberry on the north side of the trail. The work our crews did in July and August is already making a visible difference. This is the next chapter.

We're going back to Lookout Lake. 🌿

Our July and August events there were two of our biggest and most energizing yet. Now we're returning on Sunday, September 27th — this time entering from the north side — to keep working on the Holly trees, Ivy, Daphne and Blackberry that are still putting up a fight.

September is one of the best times of year for this work. Cooler weather, beautiful forest, and the satisfaction of doing something that really matters for a trail you love.
