On Saturday, June 27, 5N2 will be at the 36th Annual HOPE Volleyball Tournament at Ashbridges Bay - 1681 Lakeshore Blvd E, and we're looking for a few amazing volunteers to help run our venue

You'll help welcome people and support booth operations during a fun, high-energy day by the water. The tournament will feature a DJ, silent auction, giveaways, and more

We are for three 12-week Summer Student positions through the program at our indoor vertical hydroponic farm facility in

1. Vertical Farm Operations Assistant

Best suited for a student or recent graduate in horticulture, plant science, controlled-environment agriculture, or ag-tech

- Support day-to-day farm operations including seeding, transplanting, harvesting, sanitation, and general plant care

- Monitor crops for signs of nutrient, pest, or disease tissues and report observations to farm management

- Assist with crop scheduling, yield tracking, and continuous improvement projects across the facility

- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient growing environment, equipment, and work areas

2. Marketing & Sales Assistant

Best suited for a student or recent graduate in marketing, business, food marketing, or agri-food commerce

- Conduct market and competitor research to identify customer trends, niche crop opportunities, and underserved demand in the GTA

- Support marketing plans and sales initiatives from hydroponic greens

- Coordinate with farm management to align production planning and harvest timing with market demand

- Conduct outreach to restaurants and commercial clients, and help build and maintain customer relationships

3. Business Systems Analyst

Best suited for a student or recent graduate in information systems, business analysis, computer science, or software/ERP implementation. Experience with open-source ERP platforms, especially Dolibarr, is an asset

- Review the current Freight Farms Greenery S workflow and identify operational gaps

- Gather and document business requirements with farm management and operations staff

- Configure, customize, and help build an ERP solution using open-source tools

- Test, validate, and support deployment of the solution for day-to-day farm operations and recordkeeping

- Prepare user guides, training materials, and handover documentation to support onboarding and adoption

Most people don't know this about us. 🌿 5N2 didn't start as a farm. We started as a soup kitchen — feeding people in Scarborough who had nowhere else to turn.

Then in 2023, we installed two vertical hydroponic farms through sponsorship support.

We thought: what if growing food could get us on a path to self-sustainability? What if a subscription to fresh greens could support our free meal and pantry programs?
