Following the funeral service, the internment of ashes will take place also at Mount Lawn Cemetery of the same address.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lieutenant-Colonel (Ret’d) Daniel Thomas Matthews, OStJ, CD. Dan dedicated more than five decades to service, leadership, and mentorship through the Ontario Regiment, the Canadian Cadet Program, Durham Regional Police Service, the Royal Canadian Legion, St. John Ambulance, the Army Cadet League of Canada both Nationally and Provincially. His unwavering commitment to his community, country, and the development of young people leaves a lasting legacy that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and the many lives he touched.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Warrant Officer Mikaela Andrews from 2672 Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment RCACC in Peterborough on being awarded the Army Cadet League of Canada President's Bar for the Medal of Merit 2026.

This distinguished award is presented annually to the most outstanding cadet in Ontario, recognizing exceptional achievements in leadership, citizenship, dedication, and service.
