Comment EMMA for tickets

Emma Grede dropped her book and ever since the internet has not stopped talking. Remote work is career su***de. Three hours with your kids is enough. Ambition should make you uncomfortable.

What she’s saying lands very differently when you’re a woman in data and AI navigating these same questions every single day.

So let’s talk about it.

Woven is hosting a brunch to read Start With Yourself together and have the conversation her book started. What resonates. What doesn’t. How her frameworks apply when you’re still building something real in a space that wasn’t built for you.

Bring your opinions. Bring your receipts. We’ll bring brunch, vibes and the mimosas.

40 seats.

Read the book first or we’ll have study guides available!

11:00 AM | Arrival: Get settled, grab a drink, and meet the room.

11:30 AM | Brunch is Served: Fuel up with some good food before we dive in.

12:15 PM | The Deep Dive: A moderated (but lively) discussion on Start With Yourself. We’re breaking down Emma’s frameworks and how they actually play out for women in Data & AI.

1:30 PM | Receipts & Connections: Final takeaways, resource sharing, and contact swapping.

2:00 PM | Hard Stop: We’re out by two so you can enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

First-bird tickets for the 10th annual Woven Conference are live.

First-bird means exactly what it sounds like. It's before the early bird. You're buying in before the venue is confirmed. Before the lineup is announced, because you believe in the impact rooms like this create and trust our track record of delivering exceptional events.

The date is May 7, 2027, in Toronto. The venue may shift slightly while we lock it in. The price will never be lower than it is right now.

2026 attendees get an extra discount.

Ten years of women shaping data and AI in Canada. I want this one to be the best yet.

Two things we want to do better this year: announce speakers early and not feel like a pest when marketing.

If you want to be on that stage, speaker applications are open until July 31.

Our 9th Woven conference brought me through a variety of emotions.

During planning, I was excited by the possibility of growing since I started planning a year ago- not a Kishawna thing. I like short bursts of action.

I was disappointed by all the "Nos" I got from companies to sponsor or even send their teams.

I was nervous when the budget was looking at me, looking at these invoices, looking at the budget 😭

I was annoyed when I heard companies wouldn't expense tickets for multiple women, as if it were a frivolous expense.

I was sad when I did our welcome address, scrapped my script, and shared with our community how hard it's been and how I'm unsure if I can do this again next year.
When I sat on that couch in the Executive Lounge to moderate the fireside chats and saw my community, my entire energy shifted.

I instantly did not give af who didn't show up. The sponsors that did, the attendees that could, my TEAM, they showed up and showed out.

What I've been building for the past 9 years is homemade in the best way. I do things very differently, and my community feels that.

The women on and off the stage have depth. Names you may not know but need to. Hands-on workshops in the afternoon. Data and AI with no frills and no filters. Life after a layoff, consulting and speaking rates. The room was honest.

I'm not a ra-ra women's empowerment person. For me it needs to translate to women making more money, holding more power, and having more options. We can't do that by lying to each other from stages, and we really can't do that if we keep gatekeeping. Our wealth is in collaboration.

So yeah, keep passing on me, and I'll keep deepening my practice so more women in this space win.

Enjoy these photos until I have more & see you for Year 10.
Rooting for you always 🫶🏾

Year 9 sponsors I'm forever grateful for: Diamond RBC , Bronze CIFAR , Mistplay, O'Reilly Media

Tomorrow night, senior women in data and AI are having dinner together in Toronto. Three seats are still open.

Woven is Canada's first and *best* conference for women in data and AI. The Executive Dinner is the most senior room we build all year.

When you're the only senior woman on your team, a room full of peers at your level hits differently. No explaining the context. No shrinking. Just good, honest conversation.

Every detail of this evening is intentional. The room is warm. Not pretentious. No performing. Just women who are actually doing the work, talking like it. The most common things we hear after are the attention to detail and how safe it felt to just be.

Your ticket includes dinner on May 7, a private virtual reunion call to stay connected after, and a VIP gift curated for senior leaders.

You can join us for dinner only, or grab a VIP ticket that includes the full conference on May 8.

Six thousand women have been part of the Woven community since 2018. This is the most senior room we build all year.

Three seats left. Noon tomorrow is the cut-off.

The AI pilot worked. The model hit every metric in testing.

And then it never made it to production 🫠 .

At this year's Woven conference, Asmita Usturge is breaking down what's actually happening in that gap.

AI Lead at Microsoft, partnering with financial institutions on enterprise AI strategies using Azure AI Foundry and Copilot. She specializes in shipping AI into regulated environments, where the architecture must clear engineering, security, and executive leadership reviews before anything goes live.

At this year's conference she's covering:

• The architectural patterns that separate AI projects that ship from the ones that stall
• The governance and operational discipline that production AI actually requires
• What it takes to align technical architecture with executive decision-making in regulated industries

If you've watched a successful AI pilot quietly disappear before production, or you're sitting in front of one right now, this is the session that shows you what the next step actually looks like.

If you've been told to add AI to a system that already works, you know the question nobody's answering out loud.

What are we actually trading away to do this?

At this year's conference I'm moderating a fireside with Helena Yu in the Executive Lounge.

Helena is Head of Data & AI at EnStream, building digital trust infrastructure in Canada. 15+ years across financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, and the public sector. She's led cross-functional teams shipping enterprise AI from RAG systems to fraud detection to personalized recommendations.

A fireside is the format I picked for a reason. Helena has a transformation playbook. I have questions she's never been asked on stage.

I'm asking her:

• What's actually in her checklist for assessing whether a team is ready to build AI yet, and the deal-breakers that mean the answer is "not yet"
• What it really looks like to build governance in from day one instead of bolting it on after launch
• The failure mode that keeps surprising her, even after all these years
• When moving cautiously becomes a strategic problem, and how to make the case to leadership when you see it happening

If you're the person being asked to add AI to systems that already work, this is the conversation that's going to save you a quarter of going down the wrong road.

If you want to know how AI product teams are actually shipping these tools inside real companies, there are very few people you can ask.

At this year's conference Liliana Guzman is one of them.

Liliana Guzman is Staff Product Manager at Jane App, leading developer acceleration and Frontend Foundations. She's currently running the rollout of AI developer tools inside the company. 17+ years of product strategy, including doubling adoption targets in six months on Jane's design system.

Her session is the one that pulls back the curtain on what's actually happening inside a product team shipping AI right now.

She's bringing:

• Why monolithic AI products fail and what to build instead

• How to spot the high-leverage intervention points in your organization where a small AI deployment creates outsized impact

• How to measure AI systems for productivity gains and systemic value

If you're making decisions about AI products or sitting next to the people who are, this is a room you want to be in.

May 8. Arcadian Court. Dayta Dahta Decisions Stage.
