Akin Projects is an arts organization and registered nonprofit providing studio space and arts programming in Toronto.

This account is regularly monitored Monday to Friday. Akin Projects is an arts programming organization and registered nonprofit established in 2015 for the purpose of providing both creative and professional development opportunities to members of Toronto’s artistic and cultural community and the public at large. We have offered services to over 2,500 individuals since our inception in 2015. Our sister organization, Akin Collective, was founded in 2009 and provides affordable studio and shared workspace in a friendly atmosphere for about 1250 members.

More than a thematic exhibition, Tenfold presents an interwoven collection of artistic expressions that coexist, intersect, and strengthen one another. We invite you to experience this vibrant multiplicity and celebrate its value to artists, communities, and society.

Akin Richmond-Bathurst member Sofia Berger () co-created Akin’s Crit Night, a space for artists to articulate their standards for themselves, test them against feedback, and ultimately, exceed them.

Sofia is a painter working between Rhode Island and Toronto. In 2023, she completed a Master of Fine Arts and a Collegiate Teaching Certificate at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

She currently has an exhibition at Blouin Division () Blouin Division, "A structure is for holding" September 18 - October 26.

Her work has been exhibited at the RISD Museum (Rhode Island), Emeco House (Los Angeles), Brown University (Rhode Island), Field Projects (New York), The Hole (New York), ArtLab (London), Gallery 263 (Boston), and Collision Gallery (Toronto). Her paintings have been featured by ArtMaze Magazine and the Hopper Prize. Sofia was awarded the RISD Graduate Fellowship and has received support from the Ontario Arts Council, the Toronto Artscape Foundation, and the Joukowsky Institute at Brown University.

Akin September Crit Night RESCHEDULED!
The Akin Monthly Crit Night is back this fall. Our first session will be happening on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Remote Gallery, entrance on 300 Campbell Ave., Studio 204 (on the second floor) at 7:30pm.

The Akin Monthly Crit Night is an event designed for Akin members and members of the public to connect, share creative work, and receive valuable feedback within a supportive community.

Please register to attend via link in bio. Participation is free, but there is a limited capacity. If we hit capacity, current Akin members will be prioritized for participation.

The Akin Monthly Crit Night is hosted by artist Sofia Berger () on the first Wednesday of every month at a rotating location.

Accessibility Info

Akin Dupont is on the second floor of the building. There is a freight elevator which is not always available and has two heavy doors which must be manually lifted to open and shut.

The main entrance (located on Campbell Ave) has step free access into the lobby area. Once inside, the main entrance staircase leading to the second floor has 23 steps with a handrail. At the second floor landing, the hallway to the left leads you to our four studio doors.

There is a freight elevator that opens onto the main, second and third floors for loading and unloading furniture and equipment. However the elevator is not always available, and has two heavy doors which must be manually lifted to be operable.

The second floor bathrooms are located in the hallway and are wheelchair accessible. However the building has installed key locks on the bathroom doors making entry into the washrooms more difficult as the doors are heavy. Keys for the washrooms are located in each of our four studio rooms. The washrooms are gendered MEN and WOMEN. Akin does not have access to a gender-neutral washroom in this building.
