Today is World Refill Day! 💧 Public water bottle refill stations can help reduce single-use plastic waste, improve access to drinking water, and support healthier, greener communities.

Pollution Probe is actively working to support the expansion of water bottle refill infrastructure in Canada by building a better understanding of where they're located, how they're used, and potential barriers for communities. By learning more about the public's experiences with water bottle refill stations across the country, we can help identify opportunities to make refilling easier and more accessible for all.

More low-carbon energy is coming for Ontario!

All 640 MW of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO)’s latest request (Long-Term 2) for additional electricity capacity was awarded to battery storage projects. Ontario’s electricity sector is seeing growing demand and battery storage has great potential to contribute valuable capacity and other services to the grid.

The latest round of the IESO’s procurements looks to address needs emerging in 2029 through the early 2030s. Combined with the success of solar and wind in the previous energy competition (Long-Term 1), it is clear that the electricity grid in Ontario is changing fast. https://www.ieso.ca/Sector-Participants/Resource-Acquisition-and-Contracts/Long-Term-2-RFP

The successful Long-Term 2 projects are 50% Indigenous owned and come in at a lower cost than earlier battery storage requests.

Electric school bus deployment is accelerating across Canada. The transition is not just about vehicles and charging infrastructure. It is also about ensuring the workforce is prepared to support them.

Today on Clean Air Day, we’re proud to highlight the role of cleaner transportation in supporting healthier communities and reducing air pollution across Canada.

Transportation remains a major source of emissions, and as higher fuel prices continue to shape transportation choices, expanding access to reliable EV charging infrastructure is increasingly important to support the transition to cleaner mobility.

Through our CHARGED program, Pollution Probe has deployed more than 1,050 EV charging stations across nine Canadian provinces, with a focus on underserved areas. By helping drivers, communities, and organizations access cleaner transportation options, we’re supporting cleaner air where it’s needed most.
