Check out Wayqeycuna a piece by Tiziano Cruz at Theatre Passe Muraille. "A homecoming that confronts history-and refuses to disappear"

Drawing from archival research and personal history, this powerful performance reflects on how cultural and collective identities survive under a world reshaped by neoliberalism's erasure. Through poetic gestures and shared rituals of grieving for his sister, Cruz creates a space for reconciliation and consolation — honoring the dead through ancient practice. Tiziano Cruz’s newest piece carries a quest for inner peace and reconciliation.

Wayqeycuna by Tiziano Cruz
"A homecoming that confronts history-and refuses to disappear"

Limited run - January 24 & 25, 2026

Just as Andean women weave their quipus — textile artifacts of ropes and knots — as living memorials, Argentine artist Tiziano Cruz weaves his own memories to reconnect with his community and ancestry. Drawing from archival research and personal history, Wayqeycuna reflects on how racial hierarchies and systems of domination persist in a world reshaped by neoliberalism’s erasure of cultural and collective identities.

Most recently presented at the prestigious Avignon Festival, one of the world's most important contemporary performing arts events. Wayqeycuna concludes Cruz’s acclaimed trilogy Tres Maneras de Cantarle a una Montaña (Three Ways to Sing to a Mountain) — a poetic and political exploration of memory, class, and the global art market. TPM audiences are familiar with Cruz’s work from the trilogy’s first powerful entry, Soliloquio, which recently appeared at 2024.

Tiziano Cruz’s newest solo carries a quest for inner peace and reconciliation. The artist presides over a peculiar banquet in a performance full of gentleness and healing, a generous act of sharing.
