This Thanksgiving, we give thanks for the wonderful community and spirit that makes St. Bernard’s such a special place to call home.
We are grateful for our residents, who bring friendship, wisdom, and warmth to our community; our families, whose love and support mean so much; and our dedicated staff, whose compassion and commitment help make St. Bernard’s a welcoming and caring home each day.
As a faith-based community, we are especially thankful for the presence and guidance of the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood, whose faith and ministry are an important part of life at St. Bernard’s.
May this Thanksgiving be a time to pause, reflect on our many blessings, and celebrate the gift of community and togetherness.

We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating our residents with our monthly birthday celebration!
Our residents enjoyed live entertainment, delicious birthday cake, dancing, laughter, and lots of smiles, making it a truly joyful afternoon of fellowship and togetherness.
It was a beautiful opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the wonderful people who make St. Bernard’s Residence such a special place to call home.
We wish you a year ahead filled with happiness, good health, and many more wonderful moments together!

September 30 | National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Today, we recognize the significance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and take a moment to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and Indigenous families and communities whose lives continue to be impacted by this history.
At St. Bernard’s Residence, we reflect on the importance of listening, learning, remembering, and building a future grounded in respect, understanding, and reconciliation.

Welcoming Fall at St. Bernard’s!
We welcomed the arrival of fall with a fun and interactive afternoon of flower arranging! Many of our residents came out to participate, get creative, and enjoy some wonderful time together.
Everyone went home with a beautiful fall bouquet to brighten their room and bring a little touch of autumn indoors.

Celebrating 75 Years & Honouring Valda!
The Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood recently celebrated the 75th Diamond Jubilee of their presence in Canada — a wonderful milestone celebrating 75 years of faith, service, and dedication.
As part of this special celebration, they took the opportunity to recognize an outstanding member of the St. Bernard’s community, Valda, who has dedicated more than 25 years to caring for our residents with compassion, kindness, and unwavering commitment.
Valda’s years of hard work and dedication have made a lasting difference in the lives of so many residents and have helped make St. Bernard’s the warm and caring community it is today.
Thank you, Valda, for all that you have done — and continue to do — for our residents. We are truly grateful for you!

Today, we celebrate Grandparents Day—a beautiful opportunity to honour the grandparents who have shared their love, wisdom, stories, and faith with generations.
At St. Bernard’s Residence, we are blessed to celebrate the many grandparents in our community and the important role they continue to play in the lives of their families. Their stories remind us where we come from, their wisdom guides us, and their love leaves a lasting legacy.
May we take time today to cherish them, listen to their stories, share a smile, and let them know just how much they mean to us.

Remembering September 11, 2001 🕊️
Today, the residents and staff of St. Bernard’s Residence pause to remember September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed the world.
We remember the lives that were lost, the families who were left grieving, and the countless first responders and ordinary people who showed extraordinary courage, compassion, and selflessness.
As we reflect on this solemn anniversary, we are reminded of the importance of kindness, unity, compassion, and looking after one another. May we never forget those whose lives were changed that day, and may we continue to honour their memory by choosing peace and caring for our neighbours.

🍑 Peach Festival at St. Bernard’s! 🍑
We had a wonderfully sweet afternoon celebrating our Peach Festival at St. Bernard’s Residence! Our residents enjoyed delicious peach tarts and refreshing peach parfaits, along with good conversation, smiles, and plenty of laughter.
It was the perfect way to celebrate the flavours of summer and enjoy a lovely afternoon together. 🍑

Staff Appreciation at St. Bernard’s
We recently came together for a special Staff Appreciation Barbecue to celebrate the incredible people who make St. Bernard’s Retirement Home such a wonderful community.
As part of the celebration, we were proud to present Years of Service Awards to members of our team, recognizing their dedication, commitment, and the many contributions they have made to our residents, colleagues, and community.
Each member of our staff plays an important role in making St. Bernard’s feel like home. We are truly grateful for their hard work, compassion, and dedication each and every day.
