We recently came together for a special Staff Appreciation Barbecue to celebrate the incredible people who make St. Bernard’s Retirement Home such a wonderful community.
As part of the celebration, we were proud to present Years of Service Awards to members of our team, recognizing their dedication, commitment, and the many contributions they have made to our residents, colleagues, and community.
Each member of our staff plays an important role in making St. Bernard’s feel like home. We are truly grateful for their hard work, compassion, and dedication each and every day.

Honouring Saint Bernard of Clairvaux
Today, August 20, we celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, whose life of faith, wisdom, and devotion continues to inspire Christians around the world.
Saint Bernard was a French abbot, mystic, and influential leader in the Cistercian Order. Known for his deep love of God and his gift for sharing the beauty of faith, he was later named a Doctor of the Church. His writings and teachings remind us of the importance of humility, compassion, prayer, and living a life centred on God’s love.
For all of us at St. Bernard’s Residence, this day holds special meaning as we honour our patron and reflect on the values that continue to guide our community.
May the example of Saint Bernard inspire us to live with faith, kindness, and love for one another.

Our beautiful grounds at St. Bernard’s Residence are one of the many things that make our home so special. Our residents love taking time to step outside, enjoy the fresh air, and take a peaceful stroll surrounded by nature.
There’s something truly restorative about being outdoors—whether it’s enjoying the sunshine, listening to the birds, admiring the gardens, or simply taking a quiet moment to breathe.
A peaceful walk can be wonderful for the body, mind, and spirit, helping us stay active, lift our mood, reduce stress, and enjoy the simple beauty around us.

Honouring Our First Responders
St. Bernard’s was proud to host our Annual First Responder Barbecue! 🚒👮‍♀️🚑
It was a wonderful day filled with good food, fellowship, and heartfelt appreciation for the dedicated police officers, firefighters, and paramedics who serve and support our residents and our community every day.
We are incredibly grateful for your commitment, compassion, courage, and the care you provide when it matters most. Today was our opportunity to recognize and celebrate all that you do for St. Bernard’s and for our community.

Our residents were treated to a refreshing afternoon thanks to the kindness of their families, who hosted a wonderful homemade lemonade stand at St. Bernard's Residence! 🍋💛
Residents gathered in the lobby to enjoy delicious homemade lemonade while sharing stories, laughter, and great conversation with one another. It's these simple moments of connection and community that make life at St. Bernard's so special.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful Chair Yoga class led by our amazing summer students!
The peaceful session gave everyone the opportunity to stretch, move, and recharge while enjoying a relaxing atmosphere together. Staying active is so important for maintaining strength, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being—and it's always more enjoyable when shared with friends.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon expressing their creativity during a painting class led by our amazing summer students! 🎨🖌️
There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and beautiful works of art as everyone embraced the joy of creating together. At St. Bernard's Residence, we believe every day is an opportunity to learn something new, make meaningful connections, and enjoy an active, fulfilling lifestyle in a caring community.
