Did you know that Gwyneth Paltrow is proudly Jewish? ✡️🎬

The actress and entrepreneur has long embraced her Jewish identity and continues to stand with the Jewish community.

Following October 7th, Paltrow has used her platform to speak out against antisemitism, advocate for the safe return of Israeli hostages, and show solidarity with Israel and Jewish communities worldwide. She has also celebrated her heritage publicly, including lighting Hanukkah candles alongside Jewish advocate Noa Tishby. 💙🇮🇱

Most recently, Paltrow appeared in an advertisement for a luxury residential project in Herzliya, Israel—a city known for its innovation, culture, and thriving coastal community. The campaign highlights Herzliya’s real estate market and Israel’s reputation as a global hub for investment and entrepreneurship.

The ad led to Paltrow receiving hate from anti-Israel activists, but her connection to her Jewish identity and Israel remains clear. ✨

Today, we wrapped the final Uplifting Downtown session of the season in Toronto’s Bay Street core!

Led by Rabbi Rafi Lipner, UJA’s Senior Fellow of Strategic Jewish Enrichment, Uplifting Downtown brings Jewish professionals together for connection, learning, and community over a Lunch & Learn.

What began with 20 participants has grown into a sold-out monthly gathering with 150+ registrants each session—reflecting a strong demand for meaningful Jewish connection in Toronto’s downtown core.

Each month, professionals step out of the workday to connect across industries, learn, and strengthen Jewish identity and belonging—building community right in the heart of where they work and live.

The series now takes a summer break and returns in September.

Mazal tov to Thornhill native Ben Silverman on earning a spot in the 2026 U.S. Open, one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world!

Silverman finished tied for first at final qualifying in Florida, shooting 7-under to secure one of four spots in the championship field, marking his second U.S. Open qualification after 2022.

Earlier in his career, he represented Canada at the 2013 Maccabiah Games in Israel, winning individual gold by 11 strokes and helping Canada earn team bronze. His path to professional golf was also shaped by Toronto’s Jewish-founded Oakdale Golf & Country Club, where a membership helped spark his career.

A proud moment for Jewish Toronto sports—we’ll be cheering him on as he takes on the world’s best at the U.S. Open next week!

Mazal tov! On Sunday night, Broadway star Caissie Levy won her first Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her performance in Ragtime.

A proud alumna of Camp Ramah Canada in Muskoka, one of UJA’s partner camps, Caissie grew up in Hamilton, Ontario. While at Ramah, she performed lead roles in Hebrew-language productions of Hair and Les Misérables, and once shared that, “The musicals we did every summer at Camp Ramah were huge building blocks in my career onstage.”

Her win is a shining example of Canadian Jewish talent making its mark on the world stage.

From Muskoka summers to Broadway stages, she has gone on to star in major productions including Frozen and Wicked, with her journey continuing to inspire our community. Mazal Tov on this well-deserved honour!

Yesterday, more than 60,000 people came together for the 57th Walk with Israel.

Families, friends, students, seniors, children, allies, volunteers, community leaders, and supporters from across the GTA and beyond filled the streets with pride, hope, and an unwavering commitment to one another.

At a time when our community faces extraordinary challenges, this day was a powerful reminder of who we are: resilient, united, and stronger together.

To every person who walked, volunteered, donated, sponsored, performed, cheered from the sidelines, or helped make this day possible—thank you. Your presence mattered.

The Walk has always been about more than the distance we travel. It’s about the bonds that connect us, the values we share, and the future we are building together.

As we reflect on an unforgettable day, our hearts are full—with gratitude, pride, and hope.

Thank you, Toronto. 💙
