π¨ Kitchener tenants β we need your voices!
Last year, Kitchener City Council approved an Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) policy, requiring new apartment buildings to include a percentage of affordable units that stay affordable long-term.
IZ was delayed to start in January 2026, and now some councillors are trying to delay it again and weaken it so much that it would barely create any affordable housing at all! SHAME!
β οΈ One proposal was to decrease the % of required affordable units in a new build down to 0.25-0.5% β that means a developer could construct a building with 400 units, and only 1 or 2 units would need to be affordable!
We need council to prioritize housing over corporate profits. Hereβs how to take action:
