🚨 ROOMING HOUSE TENANTS DESERVE BETTER

Tenants at 98 Albert St. are dealing with serious problems, including bedbugs and other housing issues.

Tenant says their landlord expects them to take on cleaning, yard work and other responsibilities, with weekly reports required. Tenants also say they are surveilled in common areas and that their private conversations are being recorded.

No tenant should have to live like this.

ACORN is organizing with tenants to demand safe, decent and dignified housing. 🏠✊

How are you supposed to just "open a window" if there's wildfire smoke outside? What choice do we have - boil alive in our apartments or get sick from the air?!

✏️🍎 Welcome back for Lesson #2 - Maximum heat bylaws

As local election campaigns continue, we're calling on every candidate to support a Maximum Temperature Bylaw that protects tenants from dangerously hot indoor temperatures. Safe housing means protection from extreme heat not just the cold.

📞 Join us TMW on July 15 for our Ontario ACORN Phone Zap! Together, we'll call on our elected officials to commit to ACORN’s beat the heat campaign for more affordable access to air conditioning across the province.

This action is part of ACORN's International Day of Action: Beat the Heat, where communities are coming together to demand stronger protections from extreme heat and climate impacts.

✊ Make your voice heard. Join the Phone Zap @ 6:30PM online, ask your local candidates to take a stand, and help us win cooler, safer homes for everyone.

✏️🍎 Class is in session! Lesson 1 Landlord Licensing

This election, ask your local candidates where they stand on landlord licensing. Strong landlord licensing programs help improve accountability, protect tenants, and support safe, well-maintained rental homes.
