In collaboration with Carleton University and regional hubs across East, West, and Southern Africa, AIReKEMA will select 12 Research Fellows whose work focuses on migration, refugees, conflict resolution, Indigenous knowledge, and local governance in African border regions.

The fellowship supports researchers and practitioners advancing innovative, community-informed approaches to migration and border governance across Africa.

The Displaced Livelihoods Initiative (DLI) Grants 2026 is supporting impactful research and solutions that improve livelihoods for displaced communities worldwide. Refugee-led researchers and organizations can apply for up to $250,000 in funding.

What selected applicants will gain:

- Funding to scale research or pilot innovative solutions
- Opportunities to shape global policy and real-world programs on displacement and livelihoods
- Support to build evidence that informs governments, NGOs, and international organizations
- Connections with leading researchers and global networks
- A platform to elevate refugee-led perspectives and lived experience in decision-making

Through the Habesha Project, young displaced people are given the opportunity to pursue higher education. Refugees and asylum seekers currently living in Colombia and in the Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya are invited to continue their education through technical degree programs in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

R-SEAT and the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL) are thrilled to launch a preparatory training for participants of the 2026 Consultations on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways (CRCP), which will take place in Geneva on the 15th and 16th of June, 2026.

This training is designed to equip refugee leaders with essential knowledge to effectively engage in these technical discussions, which are central to shaping global refugee policies.

Please note that discussion sessions will be in English.
