These past few weeks in our Family Drop-in Program, has been filled with so much creativity, learning, and fun! ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŒฑ

We celebrated Asian Heritage Month by creating adorable paper plate pandas and beautiful cherry blossom trees with the children. We also recognized Jewish Heritage Month with a wonderful sensory bin experience where families created sufganiyot donuts using shaving cream and pool noodles - such a fun and engaging activity!

During Take Care of Your Pet Week, we had a very special surprise visit from two budgies named Ace and Blue! The children loved learning about how to care for pets and enjoyed observing our feathered friends up close.

W also explored nature and growth by watching our grass grow over time. the children had fun watering their grass and even giving it their very own "haircuts" once it had grown!

Snack time together continues to be such an important part of our program as well. Sharing heathy foods together encourages children to explore new foods in a positive way while also building important social skills, conversations, and connections with their peers and families. ๐ŸŽ

Thank you for making these moments possible with us.

This week in our Family Drop-in Program, we shared many meaningful moments together. โค๏ธ

Families created beautiful red dresses in honour of Red Dress Day, and during circle time we talked about the importance of remembering and honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, girls , and Two-Spirited People (MMIWG2S+). Together, we reflected on kindness, empathy and standing in solidarity with Indigenous families and communities.

We also celebrated the special women in our lives, especially our wonderful mothers and caregivers. Families enjoyed a delicious breakfast spread with fresh fruit and yummy snacks while spending quality time together.

To make the week even more special, the children created heartfelt keepsake crafts for someone special in their lives.

Our Family drop-in program was full of creativity, learning and exploration this week. ๐Ÿ’œ

We celebrated Sikh Heritage Month by creating a beautiful Kalgi craft, giving children a chance to explore culture through creativity.

Our little chefs also got busy in the kitchen helping make delicious and healthy banana oatmeal muffins - and of course, they loved enjoying their homemade snack!

Our nature exploration was just as exciting. We made our own bird nests, using paper and feathers, and used magnifying glasses to check out how birds build their homes. This sparked curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the world around us. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿชถ

Last week, we had a wonderful time celebrating Earth Day together! The children enjoyed creating a special Earth day craft, learning all about the importance of protecting and caring for our planet.

We also explored healthy choices by sharing some nutritious snacks, helping little ones understand how taking care of ourselves goes hand-in-hand with taking care of the Earth.

One of our favourite activities was planting grass seeds in honour of earth Day. The children are excited to watch their grass grow over time, while learning responsibility and how to nurture living things. This hands-on experience helps build an early understanding of how we can all play a part in caring for our environment. ๐ŸŒŽ

This week our program was full of creativity, learning, and meaningful moments ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฉท

We had so much fun exploring art in a unique way by painting with cars! The children loved rolling the cars through paint and across paper, creating colourful tracks and patterns. This activity helps build fine motor development, encourages creativity, and supports hand-eyes coordination - all while having a blast!

In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, we worked on creating beautiful trees out of puzzle pieces. Each piece represents how every child is unique and an important part of our community. It was a wonderful way to talk about inclusion, kindness and celebrating differences.

We also proudly celebrated International Pink Shirt Day on April 8th by wearing pink and having conversations about kindness and standing up against bullying.

We had so much fun during our annual Easter egg hunt searching for colourful eggs in our outdoor courtyard. The children created bunny masks and explored a festive spring sensory bin filled with hands-on discovery.
We also took time to celebrate National Indigenous Languages Day, recognizing the beauty and importance of Indigenous languages and cultures ๐Ÿ’›
