♻️🦫 BEAVERS IN ACTION! — E-WASTE DRIVE SUCCESS! 🌎💚

What an amazing experience for our Beavers!

Over the past few weeks, our Beavers have been learning about electronic waste, responsible recycling, and how small actions can make a big difference. Our White Tails took the lead by sharing what they learned with their fellow Beavers and helping them understand why proper e-waste disposal matters.

Then it was time to put their learning into action! 💪

Uniforms on, confidence up, and off they went! 🦫 Our Beavers canvassed the neighbourhood around Neilson Park, speaking with community members, spreading awareness and inviting them to take part in our E-Waste Drive.

For many of our Beavers, this was a chance to practise public speaking, teamwork, confidence and resilience all while making a positive impact in their community. 🌱

And the best part? They got to see the results of their hard work! 🎉 Community members including some of those they had spoken to while canvassing came out to donate their old electronics for responsible recycling.

Of course, no Beaver event would be complete without a little fun! 😆 They had a blast discovering some wonderfully “ancient” technology along the way. 👀📺📻

From learning → leading → taking action → making an impact, our Beavers showed us what it means to be Scouts in action! 💚♻️

🏕️✨ DICC 2026 — Another Camp, Another Chapter of Memories! ✨🏕️

What an incredible weekend at Dorchester International Cub Camporee (DICC) 2026)! 🌲🔥

From the moment we arrived at Camp Bell, the teamwork kicked in tents to pitch, kitchens to set up, meals to prepare, youth to organize, and a million little things happening behind the scenes. 😅💪

But that’s what makes DICC so special. It’s not just a camp… it’s a team effort. ❤️

Our Cubs had the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, make new friends, learn new skills, get a little muddy, laugh A LOT, and create memories they’ll hopefully carry with them for years to come. 🏕️🌿

A HUGE shoutout to our amazing Scouters, Scouts, youth helpers and parents who made this camp possible. Whether you were pitching tents, cooking, shopping, organizing, supervising, solving last-minute problems, or quietly working behind the scenes — every single contribution mattered. 🙌

And to our incredible youth helpers who jumped in wherever they were needed — you showed true leadership, initiative and the spirit of Scouting. ⭐

DICC has come a long way over the years, and every camp teaches us something new. We celebrate the wins, learn from the challenges, and come back ready to make the next one even better. 💚

September 30th marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters 🧡

Today, we honour Survivors of residential and day schools, remember the children who never returned home, and stand with their families, communities and First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples across Canada.

Reconciliation is not limited to one day. It is an ongoing commitment to listen, learn, reflect and build meaningful relationships.

We encourage Scouts, Scouters and families to wear orange, learn about the Indigenous peoples and traditional territories where you live and Scout, participate in Indigenous-led events where appropriate, and continue learning from Indigenous voices.

🦫♻️ Our Beavers Are Making a Difference! ⭐🌎

As part of their final North Star Award project, our Beavers are taking on an E-Waste Collection Drive! 💚

They are asking our families, friends, and community members to help by donating unwanted electronics that may otherwise end up in the garbage.

📱💻🔌 Have an old electronic sitting around that you no longer use? Donate it to our Beavers! Every item collected will help them learn about responsible recycling and the importance of keeping e-waste out of our landfills.

Let’s show our young Beavers that small actions can create a big impact! 🌱

🌙✨ Eid Celebrations with the 163rd IIT Scouts Family! ✨🌙

Alhamdulillah, what an incredible day of laughter, friendship, and community spirit! 🎉

Our Eid Celebration brought together Scouts, leaders, volunteers, parents, and families for an afternoon filled with fun activities, great food 🍽️, exciting games 🎯, prizes 🎁, and unforgettable memories. Seeing everyone come together to celebrate, connect, and enjoy each other's company truly captured the spirit of Eid and Scouting. 💚

A heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers, leaders, parents, and youth who helped make this event a success. From planning and setup to serving food and cleanup, your hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed. 👏

This event was a beautiful reminder that when we work together as one team, amazing things happen. 🤝

As we wrap up another successful Scouting season, we wish all our families a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer break. ☀️🏕️

Celebrating a Major Community Partnership: Bluebird Self Storage Whitby & 163rd IIT Scouts Group

Community spirit grows when local organizations and youth programs come together with a shared purpose. Today, we are proud to announce a meaningful new partnership between the 163rd IIT Scouts Group and Bluebird Self Storage at 1580 Victoria Street East, Whitby — our new official storage solution provider.

For years, our group’s equipment — tents, stoves, canopies, camping gear, event supplies, and activity materials — has been scattered across multiple homes, garages, and temporary spaces. As our programs expanded, so did the challenge of keeping everything organized, protected, and ready for our youth.This partnership changes everything.

Why This Partnership Is a Game‑Changer for Our ScoutsScouts Canada empowers over 42,000 youth nationwide, supported by 15,000 dedicated volunteers who help young people build confidence, resilience, leadership, and skills for life. Behind every camp, hike, badge, and service project is a mountain of gear that needs a proper home.

Thanks to Bluebird Self Storage, we now have exactly that.

With this dedicated storage space, we can:
🔹️Bring all group gear into one central, secure location
🔹️Organize our tents, stoves, canopies, and supplies properly
🔹️Protect our equipment in a clean, climate‑controlled, modern facility
🔹️Plan more ambitious programs and community service projects
🔹️Spend more time mentoring youth instead of managing scattered gear

Welcome to the GTC Leadership Team, Nizam!
We’re delighted to welcome Nizam Hussain as Greater Toronto Council’s new Community Support Commissioner for the Scarborough Community.
Scouter Nizam Hussain has been a Scouter with 163rd IIT for the past 15 years. She is a Deputy Principal with TDSB and a former GTC Group Support Scouter and former Group Commissioner of 163rd IIT. She enjoys spending time being active in the outdoors and cares deeply about fostering love of nature and citizenship in youth. Nizam has enjoyed Scouting with youth from Beavers all the way up to Venturers.

Welcome to the GTC Leadership Team, Sajeedha!

We’re delighted to welcome Sajeedha Ahmed as Greater Toronto Council’s new Community Support Commissioner for the East York Community.

Sajeedha is an experienced Contact Troop Scouter, she has served at the Pack, Troop, Company and Group Committee levels, and is involved with the Muslim Scouts Fellowship (MSF Canada) as a member of the Adventurers and Events Committee.
She is passionate about volunteer development and support, with a strong commitment to mentoring and training Scouters. She enjoys creating opportunities for volunteers to build their skills, grow their confidence, and reach their full potential. Dedicated to fostering strong, effective volunteer teams, she works to ensure the delivery of outstanding Scouting experiences and positive outcomes for young people.
Outside of Scouting, she is an educator at a private school, where she continues to inspire and support the growth and development of youth.
