Here is Sailesh Rao outside OISE Auditorium, between programs at the International Vegan Film Festival. Climate Healers came to to for the first time as an in-person conference, elevating the relationship with our local and advocacy community from "co-convenors" of our online Vegan Convergence of the People quarterly sessions to full partnership, at least for on , with Plant Based Treaty and (in a less official capacity) the .

This Facebook channel often reposts from the Climate Healers channel, but I wonder if it's time to recognize Climate Healers Toronto as our distinctly local portal for systemic examination and advocacy for systemic changes that we need to accomplish a safe and compassionate living space for humanity.

What's better than a Zombie Walk? A VEGAN ZOMBIE WALK, on Halloween.

We made this graphic as a test to see who in Toronto's vegan scene want to meet at Wishbone Animal Rights Lab, get our faces, bodies, and outfits zombified, and then lurch around as a mob, eating grains instead of brains?

This will be part of World Vegan Day Weekend, what we're hoping will be an annual event (World Vegan Day is always the day after Halloween -- check the calendar if you don't believe us!)

Your challenge between now and the end of 2026 is to recognize that the environmental movement has been hacked. Anthropogenic climate change is REAL. The solutions have become opportunistic peepholes that enlist billionaires to industrial growth and disempower everyone else.

"They" (and make sure you aren't "them!") will tell you that veganism is irrelevant to climate change, and that "vegans think that they can solve climate change on their own." Deflection is the art of accusing your opponent of your own crimes. It is food solutions that are outside the COP summits looking in.

Climate change is one of 9 interconnected planetary boundaries, so the environmental peephole is duly noted. Animal agriculture is the driver of most of the boundaries, and NOT a significant contributor to Aerosol Overloading...which launches food-related climate solutions to top priority over renewable energy.

The International Vegan Film Festival Vegan Cookbook Contest is in its 5th year. We need the best vegan cookbooks from around the world.

To be eligible, the cookbooks must be:

º vegan (no meat/fish/dairy/eggs/honey)
º first editions of physical books
º published in 2024 or 2025
º written in English

Books must be received at the IVFF office by August 1 (address will be provided in a confirmation email once your application and entry fee are received).

Are you following The VeganAbler?

The The New York Times said it back in 2019 -- if you won't be vegan, "at least respect their efforts to build a sustainable future."

Where is your head at in 2024?

This was inspired by Sailesh Rao's most recent blog which mentioned this NYT article while reacting to the WWF (the one without Hulk Hogan) making the right conclusion in their recent report about agricultural impacts but making the erroneous judgement that every country should be like India...who export their bovine flesh and chain their identity to a perpetually growing dairy industry.

Vegans are to food emissions as cyclists are to fossil fuels. If you can't/won't curb the harms of your consumption at least provide the maturity to acknowledge those who do and resist schoolyard bully instincts to diminish them.
