The School Board book review was one of the most inspiring highlights of this year’s IDERD events. Through thoughtful reflections and heartfelt discussions, students explored the beauty of diversity, kindness, and the true meaning of belonging through the book "What Makes Us Human." It was incredible to see young minds embrace the values of inclusion and demonstrate openness to learning about different cultures and perspectives.

Moments like these remind us that building a welcoming and inclusive community starts early, and these students are already leading the way.

A big thank you to our educators, schools, and partners for making this meaningful experience possible! đź’›

We are proud to have collaborated with the African Community in Timmins (ACIT) to celebrate Black History Month through the Black Enterprise Symposium held at Collège Boréal.
It was inspiring to reflect on the legacy of leaders like Raoul Nelson, whose vision and dedication helped establish Collège Boréal as a cornerstone of French-language education in our region. The symposium showcased the brilliance, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit of the Black community in Timmins, fostering dialogue, learning, and connections that will continue to strengthen our community.
A heartfelt thank you to The City of Timmins @ the Timmins Police Service, our keynote speaker, Dr. Evelyn Kissi, and all participants who made this event such a meaningful celebration of Black excellence and enterprise.

Today, Timmins officially proclaims Black History Month!
Honoring the rich history, contributions, resilience, and leadership of Black communities—locally and across Canada. It is also a reminder of our shared responsibility to continue learning, addressing systemic racism, and building a more inclusive and equitable Timmins for everyone.
Thank you to the City of Timmins for this meaningful acknowledgment. Let’s continue to celebrate Black history—not just this month, but every day. ✊🏾
