🌱 Calling All Past and Present Volunteers!

We’re working with a new grant to strengthen and refresh our volunteer program — and we need your voice.

It's that time of year again, and we're looking for caring volunteers to help make a real difference for local children and families through United Way Centraide North East Ontario's Ready for School program by volunteering to shop with our registered participants.

This program provides children who have been referred by local agencies with a personalized shopping experience to help them start the school year with confidence. Each child is paired with a volunteer who helps them shop for the essentials they need, including:

Outerwear
Clothing
Footwear
School supplies, lunch kits, and backpacks
Mittens, gloves, and hats
Socks, thermal layers, and other basics
A special item that brings them joy or helps build their confidence

Your kindness and encouragement can make this a memorable experience for a child who may otherwise go without.
We have three volunteer shifts available, and you're welcome to sign up for one, two, or all three shifts!

Shift 1: 10 AM TO 12 PM

We will contact all registered volunteers approximately one week before the event to confirm schedules based on the number of children and families registered.

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals in regions currently underrepresented on our Board, including Manitoulin, Nipissing-Parry Sound, and Cochrane-Timiskaming Districts, as well as Indigenous Peoples and members of equity-deserving communities.

Whether you can give a few hours or spend the day with us, your time and energy make a real difference. Volunteers help create welcoming experiences, keep events running smoothly, and bring the community together.
