💙💜 SWIFT CURRENT, YOU DID IT AGAIN! 💜💙

For the second year in a row, Swift Current was #1 in Saskatchewan for Light It Up for DEAM! 🎉 And to make this even more exciting, Saskatchewan took the #1 spot in all of Canada! 🇨🇦

Our community showed up in a BIG way, and we couldn't be more grateful!

To the incredible local businesses, organizations, and community partners who lit up their buildings, signs, and spaces in blue and purple, THANK YOU! Every light represented more than just a colourful display. It was a powerful show of support for disability-inclusive employment, a commitment to raising awareness, and a reminder of what we can accomplish when our community comes together.

When people experiencing disability have opportunities to contribute their skills and talents, businesses gain valuable perspectives, our workforce grows stronger, and our entire community benefits.

Swift Current continues to prove that inclusion matters here, and we're proud to be part of a community that doesn't just talk about it, but lights the way! 💙💜

💙💜 Lighting the way for inclusion!

A huge thank you to the City of Swift Current for once again showing their support for Light It Up! for NDEAM!

We are so grateful to have a community that recognizes the importance of inclusive employment and celebrates the valuable skills and talents people experiencing disability bring to our workplaces.

Together, we’re shining a light on a more inclusive Swift Current! 💙💜

Today, the City Hall Billboard is running all in purple, promoting Light It Up for DEAM! - an awareness campaign in support of Inclusive Employment through SaskAbilities - Swift Current Region. It's not broken or stuck, we really just dedicated today's entire billboard slide show to the cause, and decorated the windows of Council Chambers with a string of purple lights. Last year, Swift Current took top spot among communities in Saskatchewan, for most registered LIGHT IT UP locations! Will we make it to the top again?

Light It Up! For Inclusive Employment!

On October 15, SaskAbilities Swift Current is proud to partner with for Light It Up! for NDEAM. This nationwide initiative celebrates inclusive employment and the contributions of people experiencing disability in the workplace.

Our SaskAbilities locations will shine purple and blue, joining buildings and landmarks across Canada in a show of solidarity.

💪 We’re flexing our gratitude muscles today, and for good reason! 🧡

Just ahead of Thanksgiving, we have an extra $5,000 reasons to be thankful!

A HUGE thank you to the Swift Current Kiwanis Club, who stopped by with an incredibly generous $5,000 donation to support vital programs like Summer Fun, Camp Easter Seal and SLYP-Out (Social Leisure Youth Program)!

The Kiwanis Club continues to show up for local children and youth experiencing disability, helping create opportunities for fun, friendship, inclusion and unforgettable experiences.

We couldn't be more grateful for their continued generosity and belief in what we do!

Our hearts (and gratitude muscles) are feeling extra full today! 🧡🍂

In the latest episode of Shaping Inclusive Communities, host Emily Hurd, Regional Director, SaskAbilities Saskatoon Branch, sits down with Owen Hein from SaskAbilities Adaptive Technology Services to talk about how fast adaptive tech is changing.
They explore technology built around the individual, from AI and robotics to home automation and simple customized fixes, to help people gain more independence and solve everyday challenges.

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM), a time to celebrate inclusive employment and recognize the skills, perspectives, and talents people experiencing disability bring to workplaces and communities across Saskatchewan.

This year’s Canadian theme, “Skills Grow Economies. Disability Inclusion Fuels the Growth.” reminds us that inclusive employment is good for people, workplaces, communities, and our economy.

At SaskAbilities, Partners in Employment works with individuals and employers to create connections, recognize strengths, and build opportunities for meaningful employment.

Throughout October, we’ll be sharing stories, employer perspectives, and activities from across the province that highlight inclusive employment in action.

Because when people have opportunities to contribute their skills and talents, workplaces and communities grow stronger.
