🌟 When barriers are removed, possibilities grow.
This week is National AccessAbility Week, a time to celebrate accessibility, inclusion, and communities where everyone belongs. đź’™
Accessibility helps create opportunities. It fosters confidence, encourages connection, and supports people in participating fully in their communities. It allows individuals to pursue their goals, share their talents, and contribute in meaningful ways.
At SaskAbilities, we see the impact of inclusion every day. Through our programs and services, individuals experiencing disability are building skills, pursuing goals, creating connections, and discovering new possibilities.
While progress has been made, there is still important work ahead.
👉 Together, let's continue building inclusive communities where individuals experiencing disability have every opportunity to participate, contribute, and thrive.

Today, SaskAbilities is proud to recognize Red Shirt Day® of Action for AccessAbility and Inclusion.

Each year, on the Wednesday of National AccessAbility Week, individuals and organizations across Canada wear red as a visible show of support for people experiencing disability and their families. This day recognizes the achievements of individuals experiencing disability and reinforces a shared commitment to building accessible and inclusive communities.

At SaskAbilities, this commitment is reflected in our work each day—supporting people experiencing disability to participate fully in their communities and achieve their goals.

We invite you to join us by wearing red, sharing your support, and reflecting on how we can each help remove barriers and promote inclusion in our workplaces and communities.

To join the movement, visit redshirtday.org to find out more about this important initiative!

Red Shirt Day is June 3! ❤️

Established by Easter Seals Canada in 2019, this annual event takes place on the Wednesday of National AccessAbility Week each year.

Red Shirt Day® is more than just wearing red; it’s also about making a commitment to remove physical, attitudinal, and systemic barriers to accessibility and inclusion in your school, workplace, or community.

Anyone can participate! Put on your favourite red shirt, take some photos, and make a pledge to help improve accessibility and inclusion in your community. Then, post your photos and your pledge on social media with the hashtags:

As SaskAbilities Awareness Week comes to a close, we are happy to celebrate the importance of working together to build inclusive communities for people of all abilities.

This week also recognizes Disability Service Professionals (DSP) Week, celebrating the dedicated staff members who support individuals experiencing disability every day by removing barriers and fostering independence.

We appreciate the City of Swift Current for proclaiming May 24 to 30, 2026, as SaskAbilities Awareness Week and for recognizing the value of inclusion and community partnerships!

At yesterday's Council Meeting, Jayda Watson, Regional Director, and Kim Furey, Program Manager of SaskAbilities - Swift Current Region attended to proclaim May 24 to May 30, 2026, as “SaskAbilities Awareness Week.” The City values our partnerships with SaskAbilities, and commends their commitment to building inclusive communities and enhancing the lives of individuals experiencing disability, and we also celebrate their disability service professionals who meet people where they are, remove barriers, and support independence.

This week is Disability Service Professionals Week.

Across Saskatchewan, the teams at SaskAbilities show up every day to support individuals in building confidence, learning new skills, finding work, and connecting with their communities.

Sometimes that looks like a first day on the job.
Sometimes it’s trying something new for the first time.
Sometimes it’s simply feeling included.

These moments matter. They don’t happen without the people behind them.

This week is also part of a larger effort across the province, including the Saskatchewan Disability Strategy and the Accessible Saskatchewan Act, focused on building a more inclusive Saskatchewan.

To all of our disability service professionals: thank you. Your work makes a real difference every day.
