The Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people in Newfoundland and Labrador.

We offer a variety of services and programs for children and families, often tending to the necessities of life. With the help of our donors, we have been transforming the lives of deserving individuals throughout our community for more than 135 years.

Urja loves that The Salvation Army is there for all age groups. From kids' summer camps to retirement homes and everything in between, The Salvation Army has something for everyone.

Urja’s connection with The Salvation Army started when she walked past a retirement home near her house and saw the good work they were doing. She went on the website to volunteer and ended up applying for a job as well. At the time, she was discouraged by the number of job applications she’d submitted and felt God providing for her when she got the job in donor relations at The Salvation Army.

“We give hope every day and dignity is a big part of that⎯making them feel that dignity ever since they’re a child⎯catering to children as well as people who are much older,” Urja says.
