Happy birthday to my amazing mother ❤️❤️

Here she is with baby Totes over 10 years ago.
She was there the day that Totes entered our lives and didn’t try to talk me out of impulsively saying yes to the comatose little day old goat being disposed of. Mom of the year for that!

She is the person who instilled kindness and a love of animals in me. She is the sanctuary grandma and loved by all of the family here with good reason.

Kenny wanted to show you all his core workout : it’s how he gets his strength to buck around like a bronco!

Every night we have ball time as part of Kenny’s physio! Doing this strengthens his core, stabilizing muscles, and stretches his lower back.

When he wants to exercise he pushes the ball over (I am his spotter just in case he gets too off balance) and hops up:

You can see him working on getting his center of gravity at the start, and then having to correct his position since he was too far off to the side.

Once he’s good and centered he will rock or lean back to get a good lower back stretch! He holds that for a minute or two and then dismounts. It’s amazing that this works so well for him, and he loves it. He knows it makes his little back feel better ❤️. Bonus points that it is a great workout as well.

Enjoy some mid week meditation ASMR with the seed stripping squad.

Once the grass goes to seed, the herd works extra hard to strip the tasty seeds off of the stalks. Some carefully pull it through their teeth, and others just nip off the whole end . No matter the technique , it is clear how much they love the seeds.

Even little Eddie is learning this skill!

I find the sound so relaxing, and hopefully you do too.

Without fail, it seems to be the darker furred animals who love the sun the most. They get SO hot, but lay out in the full sun roasting away.

I have never understood why they seem to enjoy sun tanning so much with how much hotter they get.

Has anyone else experienced this ?! I have a few friends whose dogs are the same way.

The sunset over the pond might be one of my favorite things.

Everything is so different from when we moved in.

There was an old falling down barn. We made it work for as long as possible but it was far from ideal.

There was no fencing, no pond, no family.

We have been at this property for almost 9 years. Slowly transforming it from a rundown rural property to the sanctuary it’s today.

The work never stops , and we have some big plans in the works 👀

Ok everyone… I think Kenny may have busted out his best dance routine yet ⚡️❤️. He seems to think that his haircut has made him a fancy pants dancing horse (I must agree with him though). Also… he reared up for the first time ever and I managed to mostly catch it on camera . Who is this wild little man ?! His fancy little trot will always make me melt lol and the way he keeps coming back around to me to check in between his showing off 😂. Kenny truly loves to show off - he loves when I cheer for him and I think he knows he has fans around the world who love him. Kenny hopes you like his dance! It made our dreary day a whole lot brighter ❤️

And just like that it has been a year with Abby.

This gorgeous girl has come so far and we couldn’t be happier. From struggling to move to never wanting to stand still.

Abby had been struggling with untreated insulin resistance which led to severe laminitis and pain. We started her on a special diet, got her on a 3 week farrier schedule, ran bloodwork and then started one medication and one supplement. She started to improve quickly and over the last year has lost fat deposits and gained a lot of muscle.

She is so happy and loves to run and play!
She is approx 15 years young and Theo is her fav friend to run with and buck with.

Seeing her gallop around care free - and pain free - will always be an extra special sight knowing how far she has come ❤️
