A son, friend, brother and fellow skater whose life was cut way too short. We have hosted the Skate Competition over the last 6 years. It began as a way for ourselves and Shayne's friends too celebrate and remember him in a way he would of enjoyed. At the time it just seemed that it was something we had to do. After a much larger than expected community response, it was clear that this was somethi
ng we were going to do forever. Previously we have raised funds through the event for local charitable organizations such as the GBF, and F.O.R.T. Skateboarders from all over the region have came too compete at the annual event. In 2011, the Town of Grimsby was generous enough to rename the skate park after Shayne, as well as donating a sign with his name on it. We have always wanted to give more back to the Town and community that was so caring in our worst of times. Over the years of hosting the event, the skate parks dire need of repair became more and more evident. Deteriorating concrete, improperly angled ramps, and inoperative coping. The light turned on, we have to fix the skate park. From then on we decided we would raise funds for the skate park under the Shayne Armstrong Skate Foundation(SASF). Now while our first goal is the repair and rebuild of the skate park, that's not all were about. SASF is anything and everything to help progress skateboarding.
