We had a wonderful time attending the Newport Yacht Club Open House this past weekend.

Thank you to the members of Newport Yacht Club for the invitation and to everyone who stopped by to chat with our crew. We always appreciate opportunities to connect with members of the boating community and share what we do.

We are grateful for the support we receive from communities all along the lake and look forward to seeing everyone out on the water this season.

Our rescue dummy had a tough day! 🌊😬

He might be cold and tired after spending the evening swimming in Lake Ontario but his service is invaluable and he is an essential training aid for our crew members. With the rescue dummy we can simulate: person-in-water recoveries, man-over-boards, medical scenarios and so much more. Training with him gives our volunteers practical hands-on skills that are crucial for real life rescues.

Happy Victoria Day! 🇨🇦🎆🎇

We hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend and staying safe out on the water.

This photo was taken last year by one of our members. It is always great to see our volunteers smiling while doing what they do best, patrolling the lake and helping keep our community safe.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of two Marine Rescue NSW volunteers who were killed while responding to an incident.

Even across the world, the search and rescue community is small, and this loss is felt deeply.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, and the entire Marine Rescue NSW community.

Their dedication and courage will not be forgotten.

Yesterday, we had the honour of attending the Battle of the Atlantic Ceremony hosted by our local Legion.

Our crews participated both on land and on the water as we joined the community in remembering those who served and sacrificed during the longest continuous campaign of the Second World War.

Thank you to the organizers for including us in this meaningful event.

We had a great day training alongside OakvilleRescue and Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine

Training like this is essential for strengthening coordination, refining search patterns, and improving communication between teams. By working together with partner agencies, we’re able to cover more water in less time, maximizing our ability to locate missing persons or vessels.

This was an invaluable experience and a great learning opportunity for everyone involved.

A few moments from today’s mini SAREX on the water.

Hosted by OMSAR in Oakville Harbour, the photos illustrate what effective SAR training looks like—focused crews, shared expertise, and strong teamwork across organizations.

Crews from GAMRU South Shore Search and Rescue and T-SAR Toronto Search and Rescue-Marine joined under the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary for a day of joint exercises.

OMSAR led the session as facilitator and exercise controller, with a focus on on-scene coordination and coordinated search patterns—key elements in multi-agency SAR response.

Professional, collaborative, and always learning.

Strong SAR partnerships don’t happen by chance—they’re built on days like this.

RESCUE POWER — One of the busiest marine rescue outfits on Lake Ontario has received a big boost just ahead of the boating season. Dave DeWildt (left) of DeWildt Honda of Stoney Creek, Ontario, hands over one of two new engines to Owen Evans, director of operations for GAMRU South Shore Search And Rescue. The new Honda Bf225 engines, along with a package of vital navigation equipment and personal safety gear for the organization’s volunteers, was made possible thanks to a generous special allocation through the contribution agreement with the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (Central & Arctic) from the Canadian Coast Guard.

The new engines will power the group’s rescue boat into the new boating season following its launch this weekend. Crews will be on stand-by 24/7 through October, ready to come to the aid of mariners in western Lake Ontario. New volunteers, added to the ranks in January, will begin training on the vessel immediately.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every one of our volunteers, both on and off the water. Your dedication is the reason we are able to operate safely and effectively, and it never goes unnoticed.

From fundraising, community events, to training, maintenance and operations, and the leadership of our board of directors, every role plays a vital part in what we do.

Thank you for your time, your commitment, and your passion. .240 wouldn't be possible without you. ❤️
