HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all fathers. Today we celebrate the dads who are present in the everyday moments. The ones who love, teach, protect, encourage, and sacrifice for their children, including those loving step-dads! But today, our hearts also goes out to the fathers who are not with their children. Some are separated by circumstances, some by broken relationships, some by choices, and some by struggles that few people truly understand. We don't pretend to know every story. What we do know is that not every absence means a lack of love. No judgement. Sometimes people carry battles within themselves that make it difficult to be who they want to be, even when their love for their children remains. To the fathers who miss their children today, who think about them more often than anyone knows, who carry regret, hope, sorrow, or a desire to reconnect. This day is for you too. May today bring healing where there is hurt, forgiveness where there is pain, and hope where there seems to be distance. And may every child know they are loved. Happy Father's Day to the fathers who are present, to those who are trying, and to those who are finding their way back home. We see you.

🌿 The Indigenous Friendship Centre will be closed on Monday, June 22, 2026 in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day.

As we celebrate the strength, resilience, cultures and traditions of Indigenous Peoples, we invite our community to take part in local events, learn about Indigenous history and honour the teachings that continue to guide future generations.

There will be no programming on this day.

❤️ Miigwech for your understanding.

Our precious Elders are the heartbeat of our community. Their wisdom, strength, resilience and teachings continue to guide and inspire the future generations. We are honored to walk alongside them and create opportunities that support health, well being and connection to one another. Today our elders are participating in movement exercises as part of our Healthy Living Program, with Lan Gao. These activities promote physical wellness, mobility, balance and social connection while creating space for laughter encouragement and friendship. Our Elders are truly precious. We hold them in the highest regard and are grateful for the knowledge the stories and the love they share with us. We cherish each opportunity to support them, to learn from them and to show them the respect they so richly deserve. Their presence strengthens our community. We love them dearly.
