It's , where we share a photograph from the collection! 📸🖼

Nature is always just around the corner, and this photo of visitors to some bird's nests on Gull Rock shows it! We have to wonder if there are still as many nests in this place today . . . we count at least five in the photo. How many do you think there are?

🔔Those who are curious about this or any other photos we post are encouraged to look through our database on our website.💻

Take a Walk Through History

Early season is one of the best times to explore the Canal.

With fewer crowds and fresh spring air, it’s the perfect opportunity to slow down and take in the details—historic buildings, moving water, and the landscape that has shaped this place for generations.

Whether you’re here for a short visit or a longer stay, every path leads to a story.

COMMUNITY STORIES: OUR NEIGHBOURHOODS
The Sault Ste. Marie Museum is undertaking a project to create and develop informative exhibition pieces for local neighbourhoods and their development, alongside the development of Sault Ste. Marie as a community. The goal is to allow our community to better engage with local history, including significant developments and important people who made Sault Ste. Marie the city we live in today.

We are currently collecting information, artifacts, photos and documentation for Jamestown (Little Italy), Moffly Hill and Harris & Buckley. For more information, please visit the Museum's website at the link below!

93% of Canadians agree that museums help them to understand other cultures and communities.

The Métis people have a strong community here in Sault Ste. Marie, and you're able to learn a little bit about who they are and their culture if you come by for a visit! So if you're curious about them, we're a great place to start.

Of course, we also have other excellent museums here in the Soo. Join us in celebrating May is Museum Month and share something new you learned at a museum below!
