The numbers don't lie. CMAW Scaffolders are the highest earning scaffolders in BC. Our competition froze wages in 2021 until 2023. Last week a few UBC thugs came to site in Rupert. They have a crew in Kitimat that needs their help but they did not show up for them at all. 20 person days, one site visit, no representation, no follow up - that is the UBC in a nutshell.

One big lie that stood out to us was their bu****it about Scaffolders and scaffold training. They claim to support scaffolders yet all of their active agreements for scaffolders are all-employee and not actually Scaffolding agreements. They say they want craft recognition to the crew and support craft workers. But then undercut the craft rates, remove dispatch language, give level (wage) increase power to the employer, refuse to support members increase their rate post training and hours completion, and tell their scaffolders to perform insulation work and insulators to perform scaffolders work.

If you want Scaffolding to become red seal - CMAW is actually standing up for you, your skills and your industry.

If you were tricked by fast talk and slick lies. Contact the CMAW hall or representative in your area. You can give back the snake oil they sold you!

Hey All- Just a quick shout out to remind everyone it is raiding season in BC.... July and August is open season for Unions to try and poach each other's members and contractors, and the International (UBCJA) has been hard at it trying to convince CMAW members that it is better to have a large American Union represent their interests. This is a great opportunity for us all to reflect on whether we want to stick with an independent, democratic, Canadian Union run by trades people or whether we want to go with a large, undemocratic American Union run by bureaucrats.

Good day CMAW Canada members,

It's that time of year again! We're looking for submissions for the David Flynn Memorial Bursary.

Interested applicants are invited to submit a 500 to 1,000 word essay focusing on any aspect of trade unionism.

Six bursaries of $500 will be awarded annually (one from each district area) with an additional $1,000 awarded to the applicant who submits the top essay.

All applications must be submitted by June 30, 2026.
