Born in Toronto, Jane Zednik received her fine arts undergraduate education at Mount Allison and York Universities and her Master of Fine Arts (studio art) from the University of Saskatchewan.
Jane uses personal and historical mythologies as vehicles to explore her long-term fascination with the nature of paint (oil paint in particular), colour, form, and design. Over the years, these explorations have taken many forms and have happened in different places including New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Ontario.
Since 1993, along with landscape artist Harry Stooshinoff and various feline companions, she has lived on the spectacular Oak Ridges Moraine in the Municipality of Port Hope. Aside from her ongoing painterly journeys, she can indulge her other passions by providing native habitat and support systems for area wildlife and by engaging in the joys and sweet sorrows of gardening.
Jane has shown her paintings across Canada in both solo and group exhibitions and is represented in over 17 public collections including those of The Glenbow Museum, the Canada Council Art Bank, Trent University, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Alberta Art Foundation and The Banff Centre.
8 Queen Street is wheelchair accessible.
