Our Story
The Low Vision Self-Help Association is a group of persons with varying degrees of visual impairment. We meet to learn, share and have fun, together with our supporters--volunteers, family members, friends, and with anyone interested. Our mission is to promote self sufficiency and continuing participation in society. We want to get on with living in spite of our vision loss. Monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month from September to May, with the exception of December, in the Narthex at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, 70 Beaconsfield Blvd., Beaconsfield, QC from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Our meetings provide a varied program of educational speakers, discussions and entertainment. Tech- Talk meets following the program of each monthly meeting, at which members can get questions answered about using their computers, tablets, smart phones, audiobook readers and other digital devices. We have day outing trips and host a Christmas concert featuring a choir who present a musical evening in support of our organization.
We welcome new members with any degree of visual loss. The membership fee is $10 per year. We endeavour to arrange transportation to our meetings for members in need within the West Island.
