Last weekend, we had the pleasure of attending Sameer Zuberi 🇨🇦 's corn roast community day.

We met new community members, and had the opportunity to talk about all of our upcoming senior workshops and activities.

What a way to close out the summer!
The third installment of the West Island Blues Festival was sensational!
🎶The Pointe-Claire location was full last Saturday from afternoon to evening as performers gave their all in the perfect summer weather.
🎶🎸🎶
Thank you to our incredible volunteers! Thanks to you, more people in our community learned about everything we offer, free of charge, for adults with low literacy.
🎶Thank you, Leslie Carr for getting on stage with the other beneficiary organizations, and telling everyone about Literacy Unlimited.
🎶And thank you to the fantastic West Island Blues Festival committee - your commitment and dedication to the summer events were truly felt by all.

Last weekend kicked off with the Table de Quartier du Nord de l’Ouest-de-l’Île de Montréal Celebrating Families 2026 picnic and Literacy Unlimited was there with snacks, books and storytime!

Creativity, Inclusivity and Belonging ✨️

Last week, Literacy Unlimited Ambassadors Liz MacRae and Leslie Carr attended the Maison WILOH vernissage at Victor Rose in Pointe-Claire.

The event is a collaborative exhibition by artist Peter Hart and the artists of Maison WILOH (West Island Life Oasis Home).

"Through expressive works created by artists with diverse abilities, this collection highlights the power of art to share experiences, inspire connection and bring our community together."

This very special exhibit will be displayed at Victor Rose Cafe until the end of August.

The West Island Mission recently had their special back-to-school event and once again, Literacy Unlimited was on hand to gift each child new English books.

Thank you Suzanne, Sandra and the whole West Island Mission team for creating such a special day once again. We are so happy to be part of it.

Children got to choose their new backpacks, new shoes, school supplies and then were treated to a delicious BBQ. There were even new bicycles donated.
