One City PTBO

One City PTBO We are a community organization in Peterborough, Ontario. It was dedicated to challenging homelessness, food security and social exclusion. We are all one city.

One City Peterborough is an organization focused on housing, food security, community safety and inclusion. We are a joining together of Warming Room Community Ministries (WRCM) and Peterborough Reintegration Services. Warming Room Community Ministries was a grassroots organization that had operated the Warming Room Overnight Shelter, One Roof Community Centre, the HOME Program and One City Peter

borough Outreach. Peterborough Reintegration Services (PRS), founded by Dan Haley, is a restorative justice based organization that has been dedicated for over a decade to assisting individuals coming out of prison to integrate into the community. It has operated programs such as Haley House and Circles of Support and Accountability. What has unified the organizations is a commitment to building a city where everyone can flourish, where no one is disposable.

A few months ago, Audrey attended our Values training - as she thought about where her skills could come in handy as a volunteer at One City. She reached out that same day, excited to use her painting skills to help us bring some light into our building. This reception area is where many of our community members enter our building to access services, such as workshops, vet services, and housing support.

With input from volunteers and staff and community, we collaborated on this design of native flowers - bee balm, echinacea, black eyed susans, and asters. And then, over 4 Thursdays in May, Audrey and many other incredible volunteers and artists dedicated their time and talent to creating this beautiful mural and brightening our reception space.

We’re also grateful to Canadian Tire and Benjamin Moore for generously donating supplies to help make this project happen.

Thank you for helping make our space more welcoming for everyone who walks through our doors! 🌹❤

June marks the beginning of both Pride Month and National Indigenous History Month in Canada.

This month, we honour and celebrate the rich histories, identities, and contributions of Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ communities in Peterborough and across the country.

We also acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonization, discrimination, and systemic inequities that both communities face. Both Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ communities continue to face disproportionately high rates of violence, oppression and barriers to accessing culturally safe and appropriate resources and support.

By recognizing the intersectionality and connections between these communities and movements, we can continue to dismantle these systems, foster belonging, and work together toward a more inclusive, equitable, and compassionate society for all.

At One City Peterborough, our housing team’s mission is to work alongside people to secure and maintain housing as a foundation for autonomy, safety, community, and purpose. We offer a continuum of housing options and personalised support while engaging in longer term solutions that increase affordable housing for all.

This year, we published a report highlighting the impact this program has had in our community.

Financial barriers should not prevent people from caring for their beloved pets.

By supporting Peterborough Veterinary Outreach, you show us that you believe in what PVO does; that people love their pets, and it's worthwhile to support a healthy animal-human connection.

Pick a level that works for you and make a lasting impact all year long! 🐾
