Smitty's did a great job of making this a true community event. The total amount of food donated was 520 pounds. That combined with the over $5300 in monetary contributions gives the Food Bank a real boost at a time of the year when demand is highest. We appreciate your kindness and all the hard work that went into this.

After a recent successful event at the Pembroke Outdoors Club, their President Joe Simms, presented the Food Bank with 5 boxes of canned goods and a forthcoming monetary donation. Thank you for being a community advocate for those less fortunate in the Pembroke area. We truly appreciate your support and kindness.

Hunger Action month is an opportunity to understand why hunger is growing in Pembroke and in every community in Ontario. In many cases, the root causes of hunger are being driven by public policies that affect housing, employment and social supports. By understanding these connections, we can have more informed conversations and take meaningful action that works towards lasting change.

With municipal elections just around the corner, ask candidates for local leadership to advocate for changes needed to reduce hunger across Ontario.

The Food Bank recently received a grant of $25,000 from the Pembroke Petawawa District Community Foundation to assist with the renovation/conversion of the garage to a food warehouse. This much needed cash infusion will go a long way to paying for the remaining components of the project which is scheduled for completion before Christmas. Thank you, Community Foundation for your community building efforts. This extra capacity will help the Food Bank deal with the ever increasing food demand from those in need.
