Kala has the sweetest, most soulful eyes you’ve ever seen! But her most famous feature might just be her adorable "begging dance," where she plants her paws right on you and asks you to hold her hand so she can wiggle away in pure joy. Because of her enthusiastic "happy tail," she will also often get very excited and thump it happily against surrounding objects! Behind those expressive eyes is a total sweetheart who combines the best of a social butterfly and a devoted “Velcro” dog.

This loving girl is an absolute joy in the home. In her foster’s condo, Kala has a wonderfully calm and quiet demeanor, preferring to spend her day right by your side, lying on or next to you while you go about your day. She is wonderfully patient and tolerant (sometimes excited!) with children, loves approaching people for attention, and is indifferent to cats, making her an easy fit for a multi-pet or family home.

Kala has a low-to-moderate energy level, matching her easygoing style. She enjoys her daily walks, though some days she will let you know she's tuckered by gently leading you right back to the house.

She is house-trained and non-destructive when left alone for a few hours, and polite in the home. She can be a bit nervous on walks, and she can also be reactive in tight spaces like elevators when she sees other dogs. Working with her by using positive reinforcement to help teach her she is safe will be important. She loves car rides, though she can get a bit eager and try to jump into any open car doors. When on a car ride, Kala appreciates someone sitting in the back with her.

Kala is working on her greeting manners! She gets so excited when people return or when meeting strangers that she can be a bit jumpy so she is practically keeping all four paws on the floor. While crate training is in progress, Kala will need to continue to work on it in her forever home.

Dominic and Cisco arrived August 24th from the Barbados and both boys are settling in well with their respective fosters. We hear they're both very sweet boys (who wouldn't be with faces like those!)

✨💙 Alumni, Daisy 💙✨

Miss Daisy found her forever home over two years ago and we are so excited to offer an update on this big lovebug. Her forever family says:

"Daisy is doing amazing! We love her so much and are so happy we were lucky to adopt her. She is such a sweet loving girl! She definitely acts like a 90-pound lap dog! Lol

She is most definitely a mama's girl as she is always right beside me :) "

Foster needed - Honey - Guelph - ASAP

Age: 3.5 years old

Weight: 55 lbs

Breed: Lab mix

Good with dogs: Solo dog to start – further assessment underway / Good with cats: No / God with kids: 10+ dog savvy kids

Honey is a sweet, people-loving Lab mix coming to us from a local shelter after being an unclaimed stray.
She is currently staying at a boarding facility while she waits for a foster home to open up. She’s an affectionate girl whose personality is coming out more and more at a comfortable pace. Even in boarding, she's getting spunkier each day. What she needs now is the chance to settle into a home environment and show us who she really is.

If Honey could choose her favourite thing, it might just be people. She absolutely loves human companionship and is happiest when she can be part of what her people are doing. She hasn’t been formally introduced to children yet, so a home with kids would need to be considered thoughtfully, but so far she has given every indication that she has lots of love to share.

Honey can show some reactivity when she sees other dogs while out walking, but it has been minimal and very manageable with care and guidance. There have been no indications that she won’t be able to appropriately socialize with other dogs and further assessment is underway. For now, we’re looking for a foster home where Honey can be the only dog to start, giving her the opportunity to decompress and settle in without added pressure. She is not suitable for a home with cats.

A quieter neighbourhood would also be the best fit for Honey. Somewhere without a lot of dog traffic or stimulation will give her the space to relax, continue building confidence, and work on her leash skills.

Honey is ready for a break from boarding and a soft place to land. She needs a foster who can offer her stability, patience, positive training, and plenty of affection while we continue learning more about her. If you have a quieter home, no cats, no resident dogs to start, and room for a very sweet girl who loves her people, Honey may be waiting for you.

Joey, previously Clifford, found his forever home over TWO years ago and we are so excited to share an update on how he has been doing. Let's hear from his pawrents:

"I can’t believe it’s been two years of Joey 💕

I named him Joey because he looks like a baby kangaroo but the more he grows into his personality. I’m thinking he’s like Joey from Friends……. “ How you doin “

He loves everybody, so looks forward to his walks with his dog buddies, Kevin, Molly and Mija at BowsernBuds, doesn’t even look back at me when Crystal our Dog Walker comes to pick him up.

We all love him, he is definitely part of our pack and is especially loved by the cat Freya but she does tend to boss  him about a teeny bit!"
