DPFL and D’Angelo Sports is proud to welcome Liam McNeil as our newest sponsored athlete.

Liam is a great player with an outstanding work ethic. He is everything we look for in a young player. Beyond the talent, Liam is simply one of the most likable people you’ll meet. He talks to everyone with genuine respect, and he’s mature well beyond his years. That combination is rare at any age. This is another step in DPFL’s and D'Angelo Sports mission to support youth players across North America as they reach their goals, and this is just the beginning. More young North American players are on the way.

We are so happy to have you Liam McNeil. Welcome to the DPFL family, Liam.

🎯 Looking for a New Hobby for Youth? Give Darts a Try!

Do you have a child, grandchild, or know a young person looking for an affordable new hobby? Why not introduce them to the sport of darts!

Darts has been part of Ontario’s sporting community for decades. Around 1985–1986, a youth program was developed that grew throughout the province, creating opportunities for young players to learn the game, develop their skills, and compete.

In 1986, Ontario sent its first youth team to the National Championships in Halifax. Over the years, Provincial Championships have attracted more than 250 youth players in a single weekend, all competing for the opportunity to represent their province at Nationals.

🎯 A Brief History of Youth Darts in Ontario

In 1995, a major structural change occurred when the Northern Ontario Darts Association (NODA) separated from Darts Ontario, which continued to focus on Southern Ontario.

In 2023, Darts Ontario ceased operations following the National Championships due to financial challenges. Shortly afterward, two new organizations were formed to support competitive darts in Southern Ontario: the Western Ontario Darts Association (WODA) and the Eastern Ontario Darts Association (EODA).

This restructuring has created new opportunities for players throughout Southern Ontario to compete, develop their skills, and work toward qualifying for Provincial teams.

🏆 Youth Darts in Eastern Ontario

Today, the Eastern Ontario Darts Association (EODA) has nine youth leagues serving communities from Toronto to Cornwall and north to Renfrew.

Whether your child is completely new to darts or already enjoys throwing a few darts at home, youth leagues provide a welcoming environment to learn, practice, make friends, and experience friendly competition.

You don't need to be an experienced player to get started!

If you're looking for an inexpensive activity for your child, visit our website to learn more about the program and find contact information for a youth league in your area.

What if There Isn't a League Near You?

Don't let that stop you!

Youth who live in areas without an established league can join EODA as a non-affiliated league player. This gives them an opportunity to participate in their closest Zone Shoot, compete with other youth, and work toward qualifying for the EODA Provincial Championships — with the ultimate goal of earning a place at Nationals!

🧠 The Benefits of Youth Darts

Darts is much more than throwing darts at a board. It helps young people develop valuable skills that can benefit them both on and off the oche!

🎯 Mental Math & Numeracy
Players continually practice addition, subtraction, score calculation, and strategic thinking as they work out how to finish a game.

🎯 Hand-Eye Coordination & Motor Skills
Aiming and throwing help develop coordination, accuracy, and fine motor control.

🎯 Focus & Concentration
Players learn to concentrate on their targets, maintain a consistent throwing routine, and manage distractions.

🎯 Emotional Resilience & Sportsmanship
Missed shots, close matches, and tough losses teach patience, persistence, respect, and how to handle setbacks.

🎯 Friendship, Social Connection & Inclusivity
Youth leagues offer opportunities to meet new friends, build confidence, enjoy healthy competition, and feel part of a community.

And one of the best parts? Darts doesn't require expensive equipment or a large financial commitment to get started!
