On Monday, our cadets stood together wearing orange in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

We remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, honour the survivors, and recognize the enduring resilience of Indigenous families and communities. Wearing orange is a visual commitment that Every Child Matters, and a reminder that reconciliation begins with listening, learning, and acknowledging the truth.

The Battle of Britain turned the tide of the Second World War in the summer of 1940, as the unwavering bravery of Allied aircrew defended our freedom from the skies.
 
Today at the 420 Wing, our community stood shoulder-to-shoulder with veterans, showing enduring gratitude. Seeing such a fantastic turnout and display of respect from the cadets of 151 Chadburn and 2 VandenBos Squadrons, proves that the future of remembrance is in very good hands.

A busy kickoff featuring annual validations, our parents/guardians briefing, parade practice for this weekend’s Battle of Britain parade, and a whole lot of promotions.

Special congratulations to our Senior Cadet Team taking the lead this year.

Congratulations to Flight Sergeant Eugene on completing his first solo glider flight yesterday while attending the Glider Pilot Training Course in St-Jean, Quebec! 🛩️

To make the moment even more memorable, FSgt Eugene was his instructor’s first student to solo! In keeping with aviation tradition, both him and his instructor were celebrated with a well-deserved dunking. Congratulations to you both on this special milestone!

Congratulations to Captain Di Loreto for being recognized with a Commanding Officer’s Commendation at Greenwood Cadet Training Centre.

The citation follows: Captain Di Loreto demonstrated exceptional job performance while managing both the Staff Cadet in-Service and the adult staff orientation programming before the arrival of the course cadets. This major project was completed in a manner that was beyond what was expected by leadership. Captain Di Loreto’s dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence is felt CTC wide and recognized by the Commanding Officer as providing an exemplary example to the cadets and staff of Greenwood Cadet Training Centre.

What an amazing reminder this week of the reach of our Chadburn family.

Earlier this week, Capt Booth - now in Manitoba - was welcoming cadets from across the country at the Winnipeg airport on the very day WO2 Di Loreto arrived on her way to Steinbach for flight training.

Then today, while running CTC errands in Berwick, NS, we met Iliana Hayes, who was a cadet with 151 Chadburn Squadron from 2013–2016 before her family moved to Nova Scotia. She continued her Air Cadet journey here and even worked at Greenwood CTC.

It really is a small world. You never know when a Chadburn family member will pop up again - whether it’s at an airport in Winnipeg or a pharmacy in Berwick. Those connections truly last a lifetime!
