What a wonderful evening at the Calgary Belonging Tour Employer Firechat and Reception!

Showing up for belonging means being present for the conversation, and that’s exactly what we did. We were thrilled to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new ones, and continue building meaningful connections that move us all forward together.

A heartfelt thank you to our Firechat speakers, Dr. Millicent Mabi and Boban Stojanovic , for sharing your insights, demonstrating resilient leadership, and championing communities where everyone truly belongs. Your dedication inspires us all.

We were also honored to celebrate Paula Calderon , CEO of the Canadian Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA). Paula’s leadership is a remarkable example of resilience, and her acceptance remarks reminded us that achievements are never accomplished alone. She graciously recognized her team and the immigrant-serving organizations she proudly represents and supports. We appreciate you, Paula, and all that you do for our communities.

The conversation continues as we head into Roundtable to Conference Day at CIWA tomorrow, Thursday, June 4. We look forward to another day of learning, connection, and action as we work together to create workplaces and communities where everyone can thrive.

Big things are happening at Alive House!

As we continue growing nationally, we are excited to share that Alive House is officially working on the next level of our 5-year growth plan including the development and launch of our upcoming Membership Model launching into 2027.

This next chapter is all about building stronger community connections, expanding impact, deepening employer and community engagement, and creating more sustainable pathways for belonging across Canada.

And with that growth, we are excited to introduce Rahma Duale as our Membership Strategy Coordinator Placement Student for the summer!

We are so grateful to have Rahma joining the Alive House journey over the next few months as she supports the development of our membership framework, community engagement strategy, and organizational growth planning.

Rahma is currently completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development at Humber College after previously completing her diploma in Community & Justice Services at Sheridan College. She brings experience working with the City of Toronto, supporting leadership and public service initiatives, along with a deep passion for community-building and creating spaces where people feel connected and supported.

Born and raised in Toronto and coming from a large family of nine, Rahma’s values around service, collaboration, and community shine through in everything she does.

Outside of work and school, she enjoys writing, track and field, and spending time with family and friends all things that keep her grounded and inspired.

We are incredibly excited to spend the summer building, dreaming, and growing together.

Stay tuned this is only the beginning of the next chapter of Alive House.

We are SO excited! We are officially just moments and one week away from kicking off the Belonging Tour in Calgary!

As we count down to next week at the Canadian Immigrant Women’s Association , we are incredibly happy to continue introducing the inspiring leaders, changemakers, and voices who will be joining us for this year’s conference.

We are thrilled to welcome Madhura Joshi as one of our featured session speakers.

Madhura is an Erickson Certified Professional Coach, published author, and international speaker for Women of Colour in leadership. Based in Calgary and working globally, her work challenges traditional leadership frameworks that often ask women to disconnect from themselves in order to succeed.

With over 20 years of experience and more than 150 speaking and coaching sessions across industries supporting lawyers, founders, executives, and emerging leaders, she brings both strategic insight and lived experience to conversations around leadership, resilience, and belonging.

We are honoured to have Madhura joining the Belonging Tour conversation as we gather employers, community leaders, newcomers, and changemakers to build stronger and more connected communities together.
