Yes, yes and Yes! thanks 5 Moore Minutes with Dr. Shelley Moore As a parent myself I remember advocating strongly for 1 on 1 support for my daughter during recess and lunch. When we got what we wanted what I actually saw was my daughter walking around the school yard with her EA picking up garbage, the focus became how do we keep busy instead of how do we build relationships in the school yard. It can be scary to think your child is out there all alone but when we changed our perspective and saw the benefits of support from a distance it was the other students who stepped in to help. Sure it wasn't perfect but it was an opportunity for my child to take risks and for all her classmates to make better connections with eachother.

We 👏 need 👏 to 👏 talk 👏 about 👏 EAs 👏

A BRAND NEW 5 Moore minute Video is LIVE! Check it out!!!👏👏👏👏

Inclusion International is preparing a report about the role of families in a supportive role.

By documenting the experiences of people with intellectual disabilities and families who provide support, they aim to ensure that the views of families and self-advocates are included in global discussions.

We are sharing with you, via request of our international partner, this survey that collects the views of family members about their experiences navigating support, to help inform this report.

The survey results will complement information gathered through focus groups, case studies, and previous contributions.

The combined inputs from this survey and other activities will inform the global report and guide the development of a position paper, and contribute to useful resources.

We would appreciate it if you dedicate some time to fill this survey by February 28th.

What does inclusion actually mean, and how do we keep it from becoming an empty word? In this online workshop, we will focus on how a clear definition of inclusion can inspire opportunities, and how to move inclusion forward in practical ways.

All people are welcome at this event; it was designed for anyone who wants to think more critically about inclusion and take responsibility for advancing it

Have you been wanting space to step back and think differently about relationships and everyday life in community for a family member with an intellectual or developmental disability?

We’re offering a free, two-part virtual series for families who are curious about how meaningful lives grow beyond programs and services.

This series focuses on ordinary, unpaid relationships, the kind that develop in neighbourhoods, workplaces, and community spaces; and how people come to be known, valued, and involved over time.

We’ll work with real situations:
• making difficult ones better
• strengthening what’s already working
• shaping a few key situations to be the best they can be

Families who attend will also be invited to a follow-up session in March to reflect, ask questions, and continue the conversation with Janet Klees.

👉 Register for this free series and join us.
