The NBPA extends our condolences to the family and friends of Sgt Brett Carleton, the Barrie Police Service and the Barrie Police Association. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of one of our own. The Barrie Police Service is mourning the death of Sgt. Brett Carleton.
Sgt. Carleton was a highly respected police officer whose commitment to his work touched many families during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
He will forever be remembered as a valued member of the Service.
We offer his family our support, our love, and our deepest understanding for their need for privacy during this incredibly difficult time.

The North Bay Police Association extends its sincere condolences to the Durham Regional Police Service and the Durham Regional Police Association following the tragic loss of one of their members.

For the second time in two days, the Canadian policing community is mourning an individual who chose a career dedicated to serving and protecting others.

To the family, friends, and our colleagues in Durham, we grieve with you and stand beside you during this incredibly difficult time.

Our hearts are with the Durham Regional Police Association and the Durham Regional Police Service following the tragic loss of one of their members. We extend our deepest condolences to the member’s family, friends, colleagues, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss.

In just two days, we have lost two members of our policing family. During times like these, it is more important than ever that we come together as a policing community and support one another.

Please take a moment to check in on your colleagues, your loved ones, and yourselves. We urge all members to reach out for support if you are struggling. Seeking help is not only welcome, but encouraged.

Today we suffered the tragic loss of a member. At times like these, we encourage members to lean on each other. There are supports available for those who need to speak with someone. North Bay Police Association is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Durham Regional Police Service Constable in Training Tyrone Magbitang, who died while on his way to begin Basic Constable Training at the Ontario Police College.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Tyrone Magbitang's family, friends, and loved ones, as well as to the members of the Durham Regional Police Association and the Durham Regional Police Service. We are also keeping the other Constable in Training that was injured in the same collision in our thoughts and wishing them strength and a full recovery.

The policing community is united in grief as we mourn the loss of a young officer whose commitment to serving others was just beginning. May his memory be honoured, and may those affected find comfort in the support of colleagues and communities across Ontario.

The North Bay Police Association stands in absolute solidarity with the Police Association of Ontario (PAO).

In just 90 days, Canadian policing has faced devastating losses: three officers murdered, two killed, and three seriously injured. Enough is enough.

Protecting our communities is not a talking point—it’s our duty. We join the PAO and Ontario’s Premier in demanding urgent, immediate action from all levels of government. We cannot sit idly by while frontline members are attacked and public safety is threatened.

It is time to protect those who protect us. 💙🖤

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen a horrifying increase in the number of police officers killed or wounded in the line of duty across Canada.

Today, I wrote to Premier Rob Lantz, Chair of the Council of the Federation, requesting an urgent discussion at the upcoming premiers’ meeting on how we can protect the brave women and men who keep our communities safe.

Today, many of you are carrying something heavy.

You are watching your loved one leave for work and wondering if they will come home safely. You are seeing the headlines, hearing the news, reading the comments, and feeling a fear that few outside our community truly understand.

For some, that fear is new. For others, it is a feeling that never really goes away.

Behind every police officer is a family that serves too - a spouse who waits, children who worry, parents who pray, siblings who hold their breath, and loved ones who quietly carry the weight of a profession they never signed up for, but wholeheartedly support.

In moments like these, it is normal to feel afraid. It is normal to feel angry. It is normal to feel overwhelmed by uncertainty and grief.

Please know this:

You are not alone.

Canada Beyond the Blue was created by police families, for police families. We understand the sacrifices, the sleepless nights, the heartbreak, and the strength it takes to stand behind the badge.

Last week was a heavy one across the province and within policing. Sadly, a Greater Sudbury Police dispatcher of over 30 years suddenly passed on Friday. Glen Sonier was one of the calm voices behind the chaos and will be missed by many. Our thoughts are with Glen’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time - you’ve made a positive impact on many, and you will not be forgotten.
