78% of 2026, CYFS has been understaffed. This impacts safety, resources and the service our communities rely on.

Our firefighters show up every day. They need reliable staffing to do their jobs safely and effectively. Our communities and our crews deserve better.

Happy Halloween!!! We loved seeing all the costumes, smiling faces and future firefighters. We hope everyone has a fun and safe night. We may be handing toothbrushes next year…

Happy Halloween from the CYPFFA. Stay safe and have fun.

Today, Central York Fire Services has had to shut down TWO of its SEVEN fire apparatus due to staffing shortages. This has happened more than 20% of the days in 2026.

This leaves the communities of Aurora & Newmarket with the same level of protection they received in 2003. Since 2003, the communities we protect have grown by over 41%, and the number of emergencies has increased by over 66%.

Without proper staffing, we can’t properly protect the community, you and your family. Ask your local politicians how they support public and firefighter safety.

Prepared today. Ready for tomorrow. 🔥

Crew 4D, who specialize in Hazmat, took a proactive approach to emergency preparedness by conducting a pre-incident plan of a local business with hazardous materials on site, alongside the company’s Health & Safety team.

By familiarizing themselves with the facility, identifying potential hazards and working collaboratively, they can better prepare to respond safely and effectively should an emergency occur. 🛢️

Preparation, prevention and partnership make a difference. 🤝

Only 5 of 7 trucks are on duty today.

Central York Fire Services called in a 6th apparatus on overtime, proving they can increase resources, but that extra truck is leaving our community for a public relations event. That apparatus will be taken out of service at the end of the event.

That leaves just 5 apparatus to cover Newmarket and Aurora. Public relations matters, but emergency response matters more. Our residents deserve every available resource when seconds count.

If you agree, share this and ask your local politicians to keep resources where our community needs them most.

Rope Rescue Training continued! 🪢

Our crews spent the week training for their Tech certification, practicing tower-rescue operations and advanced patient-handling techniques.

Teamwork, precision and trust kept every evolution safe because when seconds count, skill matters.

Always training to serve you better. đź’Ş

Thank you to our instructors and community partners who supported this week’s drills!
