The ERVCDA recently was given a Feeding Communities Grant. We have been busy purchasing food for our community.
One project we have begun is providing food for the Dr W A MacLeod breakfast program and for field trips. In May and June we supplied them with a trolley filled with snacks and drinks. We’ll continue this project in September when the school year begins.
The other project was providing grocery orders for our Meals on Wheels clients. Meals on Wheels Coordinator Alice Cameron assisted in bagging the groceries last week at the Riverton Hall and Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers delivered the orders.
We also chose a few community members who were needing a pick me up to include them in the order.
We know that food security is a growing concern, so it’s truly wonderful to have received this grant to assist those in the East River Valley!
