On one magnificent evening, dozens of artists gather throughout historic downtown New Glasgow to display their art - be it painting, sculpture, music, or any other form of human creativity, imagination, and self-expression. Spectators gather and hop around from venue to venue taking in all the evening has to offer before heading home tired but enriched by the experience. New Glasgow's Art at Night

seeks to promote New Glasgow's rich and ever-growing arts community. Our art not only inspires our local culture but also takes inspiration from it and it is through this circular process that we further define ourselves through our art. In its essence, New Glasgow's Art at Night is a celebration of what makes us human. We all have a burgeoning inner artist attempting to break free from the confines of everyday existence and Art at Night seeks to celebrate that side of all of us.

Founded in the early 19th century by Scottish immigrants, New Glasgow exists because of the East River. Nestled a stone's throw from the river is the historic downtown, an ideal setting for artist and audience to gather in a celebration of community and art. In addition to typical art venues, Art at Night uses unconventional spaces for exhibition. Storefronts, coffee shops, parking lots, and the like are all fair game. In working within the spaces available, Art at Night embraces the physical features of New Glasgow while transforming downtown into a hub of creative activity.

We are pleased to announce that the Town of New Glasgow is creating and hosting this event as a placeholder in the interim! While we look forward to coming back in 2027, we are excited to see Flourish After Dark continue to support our local artists and the arts sector as a whole.

The Town of New Glasgow, after discussions with the board of New Glasgow’s Art at Night, is pleased to announce the creation of a new event for this year, Flourish After Dark. This event will serve as a placeholder, with plans for New Glasgow’s Art at Night to return in its original form in 2027, and continue the strong arts tradition that exists in our community

For many years, Art at Night has been a signature event in New Glasgow, made possible by the dedication and creativity of a passionate volunteer board. This year, the New Glasgow Art at Night Board has made the decision to pause the event for 2026. With the board’s full support, the Town of New Glasgow, in partnership with Glasgow Square Theatre, will host Flourish After Dark in the interim. The name Flourish After Dark reflects the Town’s temporary stewardship of the event for 2026 while maintaining the spirit and tradition that residents and visitors have come to love.

“We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers who built Art at Night into such a vibrant and meaningful event for our community,” said Mayor Nancy Dicks. “While the board takes a well-deserved pause this year, the Town is proud to step in and host Flourish After Dark so the community can continue to enjoy this special evening of art and music. We look forward to supporting the return of Art at Night in 2027.”

The event will remain free to attend, and there will be no cost for artists and musicians to participate. The date will also remain the same as the previously planned Art at Night, continuing its longstanding tradition of kicking off the Town of New Glasgow’s annual event season.

The New Glasgow Art at Night Board will remain on hiatus and will not be involved in the operation of this year’s event.

Additional details about Flourish After Dark, including artist and musician participation, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Hello everyone!

We wanted to let everyone know that we have come to the decision to take a break this year. We know how important Art at Night is to our community, and we want to make sure we are bringing you the best event possible. This break will allow us to approach next year with renewed energy, new ideas, and a strong showing of the passion for the arts this community has.

Thank you all for your support over the years, and we can’t wait to see you in 2027!
