The Sensitive S*x Worker unfolds through lyrical vignettes drawn from the journals of Jasmine, a young diasporic Filipina living in Toronto. Jasmine navigates bipolar disorder and the emotional nuances of s*x work through her personal diary entries. This hybrid documentary film constantly shifts visual language and explores s*x as performance, labour, intimacy, and survival - resisting simplistic narratives of either victimhood or empowerment. Instead, the film embraces contradiction and complexity, inviting viewers into the grey areas.
Dina spent three years directing and producing this project in close collaboration with Jasmine Atienza. Dina wanted the film to ask: What does s*x work look like when we refuse to impose a singular narrative? Rather than romanticizing or condemning it, she wanted to create space for ambiguity and allow Jasmine's voice and gaze to remain at the centre. The film moves across six distinct visual chapters, each reflecting a different facet of her inner world and challenging the conventional documentary form. The film was created by an all-woman production team.

ARTIST:
Dina Lobo is a filmmaker, artist and poet whose multidisciplinary practice explores themes of womanhood, sensuality, identity, and self-perception. Her work is shaped by an ongoing engagement with the taboo, contradiction, and what is often deemed "ugly" within the emotional landscape, frequently moving toward what remains unresolved. Dina holds a Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Media from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). Since directing her first documentary in 2016, she has gone on to direct three films.

Au cours de l'été, le projet « Allo Ada en vacances » a permis de rejoindre des jeunes inscrits aux camps de jour du quartier pour s'initier à l'art numérique par la pratique, tout en rencontrant des artistes professionnels et de la relève à travers leur démarche.

Avec les artistes Marian Godbout , Simone Lumen et Marion Schneider , l'équipe de médiatrices Stéphanie Lagueux et Noémie Carrier est allée à la rencontre des jeunes de CALM.OBNL (Centre des Arts et des Langues de Montréal), du Catalyseur de potentiel 💜 et de la Maison d'Aurore. Nous avons : peuplé un aquarium numérique en imaginant la perspective d'un poisson dans son environnement artificiel ; donné forme et couleurs à des odeurs pour les installer dans la réplique d'un parc en Pologne ; bricolé des appareils conducteurs pour écouter une performance collective avec des plantes.

Tous ces projets et d'autres encore se retrouvent sur Allo Ada, un espace virtuel d'Ada X. Il nous reste encore quelques ateliers à offrir, écrivez-nous si ça vous intéresse !

Over the summer, the "Allo Ada on Holiday!" project reached young people enrolled in neighborhood day camps, introducing them to digital art through hands-on practice while meeting professional and emerging artists and learning about their work.

With artists Marian Godbout , Simone Lumen and Marion Schneider, art educators Stéphanie Lagueux and Noémie Carrier met with young people from CALM.OBNL, Catalyseur de potentiel 💜 , and Maison d'Aurore. We: populated a digital aquarium imagining a fish's view of its artificial habitat; gave shape and color to smells and installed them in a replica of a park in Poland; and built conductive devices to listen to a collective performance with plants.

All of these projects, and more, can be found on Allo Ada, a virtual space by Ada X. We still have a few workshops left to offer, get in touch if you're interested!

Retour sur la résidence de Marian Godbout (Marian Godbout ) réalisé à Ada X du 1er septembre au 26 décembre 2025 dans le cadre du Programme « Compétences numérique pour les jeunes » (CNJ) coordonnée par L’Alliance des arts médiatiques indépendants (AAMI) et financé par le Gouvernement du Canada. Vivarium est un projet de récit interactif en réalité virtuelle inspiré de l’aquariophilie amateure. Alors que les humains s’enferment de plus en plus à l’intérieur pour regarder le monde à travers des écrans, la tendance aux plantes d’intérieur et aux aquariums pointe vers un besoin de reconnexion avec la nature tangible. À travers les communautés virtuelles bâties autour de ces hobbies, le public est invité à se questionner sur la liberté de choix au sein d’une technocratie capitaliste.

A look back at Marian Godbout’s (Marian Godbout) held at Ada X from September 1 to December 26, 2025, as part of the "Digital Skills for Youth" (CNJ) Program, coordinated by the Independent Media Arts Alliance (AAMI) and funded by the Government of Canada. Vivarium is an interactive story-telling project in virtual reality inspired by amateur fishkeeping. While humans are more and more isolated indoors and looking at the world through screens, the growing trend of owning plants and aquariums seems to indicate a need for connection with tangible nature. Through a digital community built around these hobbies, the audience is invited to question its freedom of choice in a capitalist technocracy.

Nous avons le plaisir d'accueillir Amanda Amour-Lynx (Lynxii | Jilaptoq 🐾 ) en résidence chez Ada X du 1 septembre jusqu’au 23 octobre.

Amanda Amour-Lynx est une artiste interdisciplinaire et animatrice « Two Spirit » et neurodivergente basée à Montréal, d’origine urbaine l’nu, écossaise et française, membre de la Première Nation de Wagmatcook. Son art allie les approches traditionnelles l’nu’k, la peinture contemporaine, les nouveaux médias et les arts numériques, en s’inspirant de la cosmologie mi’kmaq, des récits sur les étoiles, des savoirs écologiques, de l’identité de genre et de la renaissance linguistique.

Pour sa résidence cet automne à Ada X, Amanda développera 𝙉𝙚𝙩𝙪𝙠𝙪𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙠, 𝙍𝙚𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, une œuvre d’art en réalité augmentée où les plantes indigènes reprennent le paysage.

We're happy to welcome Amanda Amour-Lynx (Lynxii | Jilaptoq 🐾) in residency at Ada X from September 1st to October 23rd!

Amanda Amour-Lynx is a Two Spirit, neurodivergent urban L’nu-Scottish-French interdisciplinary artist and facilitator currently living in Montreal, Quebec and member of Wagmatcook FN. Their art combines traditional l’nu’k approaches, contemporary painting with new media and digital arts guided by Mi’kmaq cosmology, star stories, ecological knowledges, gender identity and language resurgence.

For their fall residency, Amanda will develop 𝙉𝙚𝙩𝙪𝙠𝙪𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙠, 𝙍𝙚𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, an augmented reality artwork where native plants take over the landscape.

Jeudi nostalgie 📼 Ada X célèbre ses 30 ans cette année, et c'est l'occasion parfaite pour un petit throwback à l'exposition de 1994 Fantasmagoria.

Fantasmogoria: le silence ne vous protègera pas était une installation en ligne explorant les possibilités et limites de la représentation s*xuelle lesbienne en utilisant la fantaisie comme véhicule. Il s'est créé en réponse aux attaques des mouvements de droite envers la communauté et l'art q***r. Ce projet était une collaboration de Groupe Intervention Vidéo (GIV), Vidéo In Studios et Ada X.

Throwback Thursday 📼 Ada X is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and it's the perfect occasion for a little throwback to the 1994 exhibition Fantasmagoria.

Fantasmagoria: Silence Will Not Protect You was an online installation exploring the possibilities and limits of le***an s*xual representation, using fantasy as a vehicle. It was created in response to attacks from right-wing movements against the q***r community and q***r art. This project was a collaboration between Groupe Intervention Vidéo (GIV), Vidéo In Studios, and Ada X.
