Dungeons and Dragons is mostly known for being a fun, creative hobby. Drawing from the game’s framework, Therapeutically Applied Role-Playing Games are designed to help facilitate social connectedness, explorations of identity and self-concept (through game character development), and practice with coping strategies and mindfulness in a safe and controlled environment.

Kim Brown is a therapist with the Fraser Health Authority who has been playing and running games (like D&D) for 30+ years and took an interest in how her favorite pastime could provide therapeutic benefits.

Starting in 2027, important changes will make the Disability Tax Credit application process more accessible for many Canadians. For certain long-lasting conditions, the application is being streamlined. More healthcare professionals will be able to certify parts of the application.
