Thank you to everyone who attended our Hike for Hospice on Sunday. The sun broke through the trees as the event commenced, and we shared a very meaningful walk and petal release at the riverside. Our volunteers helped the day run smoothly, allowing so much time for visiting and connecting with each other. Thank you to In View Images - Photography by Oliver Rathonyi-Reusz for capturing these moments!

💚with so much gratitude again to Manion & Associates Financial Services, Garden Hill Cremation & Funeral Services, Ridge Notaries, Johnston Meier Insurance Agencies, The Wesbrooke, Chartwell Retirement Residences, Dignity First Memorial Burkeview and of course Westgate Flower Garden for making visions like this come to life! Thank you as well to Dave and the team at Silver Valley Dominos, much appreciated!

🌿UPCOMING Walking Group-HEALING STEPS

This grief group focuses on grieving through simple movement and shared presence in nature. Walking side by side can sometimes feel more comfortable than sitting in conversation and allows each person to engage in their own way.

💚Group Details

Location: Osprey Village in Pitt Meadows
Meeting area: Village Square at the coffee shop Stomping Grounds
Day: Tuesdays, June 9 – July 28
Time: 10:00 AM start
Duration: ~40-minute walk
Length: 8-week program

💚 What to Expect

Each session will follow a gentle structure:
• A short welcome
• A relaxed, slow-paced walk on accessible trails
• A quiet closing moment to pause, reflect, or simply be present
• Total 1 hour

💚 About the Group
This is a closed group, meaning the same participants will attend each week. This helps create a sense of trust, familiarity, and emotional safety over the 8-week period. There is no expectation to talk. You are welcome to walk in silence or connect with others if and when it feels right for you.

The intention is to offer a calm, compassionate environment where grief can be acknowledged without pressure or expectation

What to Bring
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Water, if needed

If you feel this group might be supportive for you, or if you would like more information, please feel free to reach out to Vanessa at 604-463-7722

🩵When patients and families come to live at McKenney Creek Hospice it can be a time of many changes and new faces. The Hospice Society volunteers and team have started a new program offering Comfort Baskets to all new residents. These baskets include simple resources, special treats, and cozy items like slippers and blankets.

🩵The intention of this program is to remind people they are not alone in this part of their journey and this simple offering connects people to the larger emotional support that is available to them. We would like to thank the Meadow Ridge Rotary Club, Maple Ridge, BC, Kiwanis Club of Golden Ears the Ridge Meadows Quilters guild and Walmart for their generous support to get this program up and running! It truly takes a community and we are grateful to these organizations that make a difference for these families.

Hello everyone, I’m so happy to be joining the Ridge Meadows Hospice Society. From what I’ve already seen, this is such a warm and caring community, and I feel grateful to be a part of it. For the past 10 years, I’ve worked as a registered art therapist supporting children, youth, and older adults through a wide range of experiences, including grief, trauma, anxiety, and life transitions.

I love using art as a way to help people express themselves, especially when words feel hard to find. My goal is always to create a space where individuals feel safe, supported, and free to be themselves, however that looks for them.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me spending time with my husband and our two daughters, being out in nature, practicing yoga, and doing anything creative, often with our new dog, Daisy!
