Friendly reminder! We have two fitness classes happening at Brooklyn Hall tomorrow, Wednesday, October 7!

🍼 Bump to Baby Fitness is kicking off its first class tomorrow at 11:30 AM for moms and babies! Classes will be held on Wednesdays on October 7, 14, and November 11 & 18. $10 per class or sign up for all 4 sessions for just $35.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga with Melissa will also be offering a Gentle Flow Yoga class tomorrow evening at 6:30 PM. Drop-in rate is $10.

No need to bring your own equipment! Yoga mats, blocks, weights and yoga straps are available at no additional cost.

Notice: Upcoming Renovations at the Brooklyn Community Hall ⚠️

The Hall will be temporarily closed from Monday, October 19 - Friday, November 6 for our much anticipated bathroom renovation! Our bathroom on the main floor will be redesigned as a universal washroom to meet current accessibility codes in Nova Scotia.

We want to give our local contractors a huge shout out for their part in make this vision a reality: Dagley’s Plumbing and Heating ltd, Three Peaks Construction, Queens Furniture and Wamboldt Electric Ltd.

We also have Oak Street Innovation who will be overseeing the construction of a new exterior ramp.

These important projects wouldn't be possible without being a successful recipient of the Region of Queens Municipality's Community Investment Fund!

While the upstairs will be closed off during this time frame, we do have space available downstairs for rent. Please reach out to us via email at [email protected] to book.

Brooklyn Recreation is partnering with Bump to Baby Fitness to bring another baby-friendly class to the Brooklyn Community Hall !

Bump to Baby Fitness is a fun, welcoming workout class for moms at every stage of motherhood.

You don’t need to be pregnant or have a new born to attend! Whether you’re expecting, have a little one 0–18 months, or have an older child at home, you’re welcome to join us.

Come move your body, build strength, enjoy some great music, and connect with other local moms in a supportive, baby-friendly space. Our workouts are designed to be adaptable to you and your body. 💪

Classes will be held on Wednesdays at 11:30 AM on October 7, 14, and November 11, 18.

$10 per class or 4 sessions for $35.

You know who can put a damper on an outdoor event? Mother Nature...literally! 🌧

With the predicted forecast for Saturday and continuing into next week, Athletics Nova Scotia and our partners have made the decision to postpone our 'Throw with an Olympian' event.

For anyone who has registered, Athletics Nova Scotia will be in touch. Brooklyn Recreation will refund any donations community members made for this event.

But! We have great news. While this event may not have worked out this time, we are postponing to Spring 2027. Brooklyn Recreation will once again partner with Sarah Mitton, Athletics Nova Scotia and Sport Nova Scotia to bring the community together.

Gentle Slow Flow Yoga starts tonight! 🌿

Join Yoga with Melissa tonight at 6:30 PM at the Brooklyn Community Hall for our first Gentle Slow Flow Yoga class.

There’s still room if you’d like to join us! Whether you’re completely new to yoga, looking to try chair yoga, or have been practicing for years, this class is designed to be welcoming and accessible to everyone.

Walk-ins welcome, but we encourage you to pre-register with us. You can do so by emailing [email protected]. Class detail, dates, and cost below.

SEPT. 24 UPDATE: Due to the forecast on Saturday and the days to follow, we unfortunately have to postpone this event.

However, we are working together to host another event for Spring 2027. Stay tuned for details.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!

Fresh off her Silver Medal at the Diamond League Final, Sarah Mitton is coming home and testing out our new shot put pad!

Hosted by Athletics Nova Scotia, in partnership with Brooklyn Recreation, we are inviting students Grades 4-6 (this group will be kept separate/modified), 7-9 & 10-12 to join our 'Throw with an Olympian' event. Of course, spectators of all ages are welcomed too!

This event will be held on Saturday, September 26 at the Hank Snow Playground, located in Brooklyn on Hillside Rd.

This event is FREE for students.

If anyone wants to make a donation to Brooklyn Recreation, all proceeds will directly support the shot put pad, including future maintenance.
