A mid summer report from a sister CMAP Museum, the Milton Blacksmith Shop & Milton Heritage Society

Hello, friends and members!

I hope you've all had a wonderful start to summer! I'm here with a few exciting updates about what has been going on at the museum and some events we have coming up!

UPCOMING EVENTS:
1/ Blacksmithing Demonstration: On Friday, July 31st, at 11am, some of our staff will be hosting a blacksmithing demonstration in the museum! Come on down to check it out! Here's a link to the details on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1323051576258022
2/ Letterpress Demonstration: On Saturday, August 15th, at 11:30am-2:30pm, my friend and talented letterpress printer Katie PRescott of Woodshed Press will be setting up her letterpress in our museum! You can go buy and print your own mini prints. Here's a link to the details on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/19BTwDdiYk/

UPDATES:
1/ Our opening day event went so well! We gave out nearly a hundred hot dogs, had four sets of musicians play, and had loads of people come through the museum. I'm so grateful to the volunteers that helped on the day, especially Doug for bringing out his barbeque-ing equipment and cooking all day, Coralee for donating lots of pop and supplies, and everyone who helped out! I hope we can make it a tradition and keep the event going for years to come.
2/ We are low on funds! With fewer donations than we had hoped to receive, visitor numbers lower than last year, and less funding from the province, our bank account is lower than I would have hoped for the season. Please spread the word that our museum is a great place for a donation or consider dropping by to get something from the gift shop!
3/ Our calendar sales have been going great! A huge thanks to Anna Zygowski who designed the calendar, they look great and they have generated some really important income for us. If you would like to grab one, we have some available at the gift shop! Here are some photos of what they look like: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BgUFyyRri/

And that's all from me for now! I hope you'll drop by the museum this summer and see the changes and new artifacts that are out, flip through the amazing photos that we have on display, or turn the crank on an old machine! Remember, we're open Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm until September!

Happy summer,

Rosie Wilson
