Casa Casa is the home for the arts in southern Alberta. It is about experimentation, incubation, learning and growing.

This page is managed by the Allied Arts Council and is intended to be a source to find information on Casa, Lethbridge's community arts centre located just east of Galt Gardens. Casa is the realization of a 20 year dream, shared by many in the Lethbridge arts community, to expand or replace the Bowman Arts Centre. This unique new facility far surpasses the original vision for expansion, a

nd sets a new standard for interdisciplinary arts centres. Casa was built to serve a multi-generational community, with varying art skill sets and interests in all disciplines of the arts. Designing the building was a comprehensive and collaborative process led by Nyhoff Architecture from (Calgary) working in conjunction with the local architectural firm of Ferrari Westwood Babits. The Architectural team visited numerous arts education institutions and also met with members of the local arts community to define requirements for a truly functional 42,000 square foot art centre. The resulting building design is truly impressive.

Big Band Bop returns to Rotary Square for its 3rd year!

Starting at 7pm, we will jive and bop until 9pm on Rotary Square at Casa!

Featuring the Lethbridge Big Band playing classic favourites like Frank Sinatra’s "Fly Me to the Moon," alongside modern hits that will keep you moving. Swing Bridge Dance will be inviting the community to dance the night away!

Enjoy the music, watch the dancers, or join them on the floor for a beautiful evening of music and community under the lights. Free!

If the weather turns, we will still be inside Casa dancing!

Come for a walk downtown and see some temporary window mural art!

Downtown Lens Artist Tour meets at Casa at 5:00pm and then we will visit the work of 14 artists at 13 locations!

Artists will be in attendance to talk about their work. The tour will end at Casa and is followed by the BIG BAND BOP if you want to stay and dance!

Did you screenprint an Upside Downtown T-shirt? Need the At Home Washing Instuctions? We got you covered!

Following the event, proper home care of your fabric is essential for the longevity of the print. Improper drying, curing, or heat setting may result in the image fading over time. Once heat set, screen printed fabric is machine washable.

1. Allow screen prints to completely dry and cure for 24-36 hours after printing.
2. Set with heat using one of the following methods:
- Iron: Ensure there is no water in your iron and set it to medium heat. You can protect your design and the iron by placing pieces of parchment paper inbetween. Iron design for 3-5 minutes being careful not to let it burn.
- Dryer: Places cured screenprinted fabric in the dryer on a high temperature for 15-20 minutes.
3. Wear your print proudly and be sure to tag us!

Casa's visual art studio spaces are available for individuals with previous experience to work independently in their preferred art discipline. Fully equipped communal studios are accessible by studio access pass holders. The first step is setting up consultation with a studio technician to demonstrate a sufficient level of proficiency regarding the specialized equipment.

ONE MORE DAY until the last Upside Downtown concert of the year - POP UP, GET DOWN!

Today we are highlighting the wonderful Community Organizations that are partnering with us at Pop Up, Get Down!

One of the reasons that Lethbridge has such a vibrant art scene is the way in which local groups support each other. We wanted to collaborate with other local, art loving groups to help spread their messaging by sharing the spotlight. Feel the upside part of Upside Downtown!
