Our final market was a cozy success and such a sweet way to end our very first season as Lake Echo Farmers Market. Thank you to our vendors, volunteers, rec centre staff, and most importantly, members of our community for consistently showing up and bringing your best selves to this small market. Farmers markets are an act of revolution these days; gathering to share local food, handmade goods, inherited knowledge, and build resilient food and economic systems fights against monopolies, globalization, and systemic marginalization. Every small act counts and we feel very proud of our local farmers markets - here in Lake Echo and across the province. Thank you for everything, everyone. See you next year!

Our final market has arrived! We're SO grateful and fulfilled about our first ever market season.

Join us on Wednesday, October 7th at 530pm to appreciate the vendors, musicians, volunteers, and community members who help make LEFM so special 🎉

We'll have the Tide & Table Food Truck serving up dinner alongside local musician .dawe playing tunes 🎶

Weather looks great, so bring a friend and wear your layers so you can hang into the night!

Happy Monday folks!

This Wednesday September 30th is Canada's National Truth and Reconciliation Day and our market will be CLOSED for the public holiday.

We encourage our community to take time to learn from Indigenous voices, visit local resources or events, then listen, reflect, and consider what meaningful action and reconciliation can look like in our own communities 🧡

Our next and final market will be on October 7th. See you then!

While political solicitation isn't permitted at our farmers market, we can't help but think that farmers markets are indeed, political.

Market organizers, vendors, and visitors represent the values of a community and can help folks gather, listen, and learn from one another about what helps create a healthy, prosperous, thriving community - something we're all hoping our politicians also are interested in!

The Lake Echo Farmers Market was acknowledged and now, it's written in the history books, at the Nova Scotia House of Assembly by the Hon. Twila Grosse, the Minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs and MLA for Preston, our neighbouring community.

We hope that all farmers markets can be recognized by those in power for the hard work it takes to strengthen local food sovereignty and bolster our local economic and social wellbeing. Grassroots organizations truly are the changemakers!

It's not over yet!!

As we near the end of our first season, we want to say thank you. To every vendor who set up week after week, and to every visitor who came out on a Wednesday evening to shop local, listen to live music, and grab something from the food truck: this market wouldn't exist without you. Watching Lake Echo come together around this little market has been the best part of our year.

We've still got two markets left this season: September 23 and October 7. Note that we'll be closed on September 30 for the holiday. Come out and join us before we wrap up for the year!

We’re always so amazed and proud of the way our vendors show up; last evenings market had twinkly lights, disco lights, solar lights, and of course, sunlight 😎🙏

We'll be running our Lake Echo Farmers Market on Wednesday September 23rd and our final date in Wednesday October 7th (as a reminder, September 30th is a holiday with NO market).

Be sure to swing by before the season is over!
