The Royal Canadian Navy will mark a significant leadership transition on 16 June 2026 as Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee hands over command to VAdm Daniel Charlebois during a Change of Command Ceremony.

During his tenure as Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy, VAdm Topshee guided the Navy through a period of major transformation, overseeing the introduction of new capabilities, increased operational commitments at home and abroad, and continued efforts to grow and modernize the fleet. His leadership has helped position the RCN for the future as it prepares to welcome the Joint Support Ships, River-class Destroyers, and other key capabilities.

Assuming command, VAdm Charlebois brings decades of operational and leadership experience to the role. As the Royal Canadian Navy continues to expand, recruit, and modernize, he will lead the service through one of the most important periods in its history, ensuring Canada's sailors remain ready to defend the nation's interests at home and around the world.

Fair winds and following seas to VAdm Topshee, and congratulations to VAdm Charlebois as he takes the helm of Canada's Navy.
