Do you need a place to donate your seeds to? The Mary C. Moore Public Library is the place! You can donate them to the staff at the front desk, and they will put them in the basket. That basket will be emptied regularly for the Seed Library that the club runs! 🪴

Tuesdays garden tour of a members yard! John’s open garden tour tonight was full of learning, admiring and seed collecting!! The garden is so large but approximately 40 garden club members joined in tonight.

We appreciated all of the work that has gone into the pathways, ponds, rock garden and plant placement!

Our first meeting for the fall will be a harvest potluck social on the evening of Tuesday, September 8th at the Lacombe Performing Arts Centre!

The tailgate portion(530-630) is meant to be an opportunity for club members to share perennials that they are dividing or excess harvest from their gardens with others. The harvest potluck supper is a chance for us to enjoy a meal together, celebrate the growing season and visit with each other!

The Club will be supplying "Beef on a Bun(645 ish)", condiments, tea & coffee. White, whole wheat and gluten free buns will be an option.

Please bring an item to share - appetizer, salad, dessert, juice. Please include ingredients for those with food allergies! It would be appreciated. Volunteers are welcome to help us set up and take down the room!

Don’t rush to cut everything down when the flowers fade. 🌿

Coneflower, black-eyed Susan, sedum, bee balm, yarrow, and lavender can all provide useful structure after blooming. Leaving some stems and seed heads standing can offer winter interest, seeds for birds, and shelter for beneficial insects.

You can always clean things up later when new growth begins — but a perfectly tidy garden isn’t always the most wildlife-friendly one.

There is a garden tour Tuesday Sept 1. Sorry that is all the information I have!!

🌷🧄 FALL BULBS & GARLIC ARE HERE! 🧄🌷

It might feel a little early to be thinking about next spring, but fall planting season is just around the corner! 🍂

Our fall bulbs and planting garlic have arrived at Hannas Seeds, with lots of beautiful varieties to choose from!

🌷 FALL BULBS
Plant them this fall and let them overwinter for a beautiful burst of colour next spring! Mix different colours, heights and bloom times to create a garden you’ll be excited to see after our long Alberta winter. 🌸

🧄 PLANTING GARLIC
Fall is the time to get your garlic in the ground so it can establish before winter and get a head start next spring!

A few important planting tips:
🧄 Separate the bulb into individual cloves, but DO NOT remove the papery skin from the garlic cloves.
🌱 Plant each clove with the pointed end facing up.
🍂 Once planted, mulch heavily with straw to help protect the garlic through the winter.

✨ Shop early for the best selection! Popular fall bulbs and garlic varieties can go quickly once planting season gets underway.

Stop by Hannas Seeds & Garden Centre in Lacombe and get a head start on next year’s garden! 💚

🍂 Plant this fall. Enjoy the rewards next year! 🌷🧄
