On June 20th we will be gathering at the Woodland Sanctuary in Lacombe, Alberta to celebrate the summer solstice. This will be the first of 4 annual gatherings to spend creative time in this new woodland, modelled after the aspen parkland ecoregion.
Stories, photography, reflections, poetry, drawings, and more, all expressions are welcome. The goal is to capture the growth of the project and how it changes and evolves over the seasons and years. The expressions will be shared with each other and, for those who choose to do so, added to the Woodland Sanctuary living document. A document that will speak to the relationship between nature and the community and will hopefully carry on for many years to come. All are welcome.

The cool, windy evening didn’t deter garden club members from our first private garden tours of the season!! We enjoyed three gardens within 2 blocks of each other. Each garden was unique, inspiring and demonstrated the vision of the gardener! Patti had a huge clump of prickly pear cactus which will be putting on quite a flower show soon! She also had a diverse variety of perennials and vines! Colleen’s love of roses was obvious with a few in bloom and many more coming soon! Irene’s garden contained some beautiful hanging baskets & containers with several seating areas. It was a very enjoyable evening as everyone shared their knowledge about plants, uses (lovage) and identification! Love this group for their welcoming & sharing of garden knowledge.
