Some will recognize this photo of Kate Tomah and Harvey DuPlessis from almost a hundred years ago, illustrating part of our history with the indigenous community. Come out on ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐, ๐๐๐น๐ ๐ฑ๐๐ต ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐บ (112 Rt. 616 - The Old Schoolhouse) to hear ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐ก๐ถ๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐น๐ฎ๐ tell the largely untold story of the Wษlastษkokewiyik people, deprived of their traditional land at the head of tide, and forced to settle in Kingsclear. Her beautifully written and illustrated book ๐๐ช๐ญ๐ช๐ซ๐ฌ (its Wษlastษkwey name) will be available, and if you'd like to come prepared, advance copies can be purchased at Goose Lane Editions, here: https://shorturl.at/J6tSy Light refreshments and what is sure to be a fascinating question period will follow Andrea's presentation. All are welcome - see you there!
