What if a single community space could inspire innovation, nurture entrepreneurs, develop leaders, celebrate culture, empower youth, and bring entire communities together?
Today, we are excited to share the stunning renderings of Phase II of the Liberian Learning Center (LLC): the Kúkátónón Community Center (KCC), a bold vision that promises to become one of the most innovative community developments in postwar Liberia.
But to truly appreciate what lies ahead, we must remember what has already been achieved.
In December 2024, the Liberian Learning Center officially opened in Paynesville, Liberia, in the presence of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, community leaders, volunteers, partners, and supporters. During the grand opening, President Boakai described the Center as:
“One of the most important developments in postwar Liberia.”
What began as a dream became a reality.
Built with compressed earth blocks, powered entirely by solar energy, and equipped with rainwater harvesting and passive energy systems, the Liberian Learning Center is now recognized as one of Liberia’s most environmentally sustainable modern educational facilities.
In just over one year:
- More than 20,000 community members have visited the Center - Participants have come from 76 communities
- The Center hosts digital literacy, ICT, entrepreneurship, leadership development, youth mentorship, research, and innovation programs
- It has been featured internationally in 150 Libraries You Need to Visit Before You Die by Léa Teuscher
Now we are ready for the next chapter.
