We run 4 annual community events a year, the Halloween Hunt & Easter Egg Hunt & Christian's Charity for Comedy & Community & Pet Valu Lions Foundation of guide dogs walk.

I wanted to take a moment this beautiful Sunday afternoon to bid farewell to the Stipley Lions Club and the community of Hamilton. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to the club itself. I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has volunteered, joined us, and enjoyed working with the wonderful community of East Hamilton.

We lost one of the most remarkable and caring Lions I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Lion Mel Dempsey passed away suddenly this morning. I ask that everyone respect Mel’s wife and family during this difficult time.

I am working with fellow Lions from the Ancaster Lions Club, and we will share funeral details with you as soon as they become available.

Lion Mel played a significant role in helping the Stipley Lions Club get off the ground—whether it was attending our meetings to support awards presentations or offering late‑night calls filled with guidance, wisdom, and encouragement. His dedication, kindness, and leadership touched many lives.

Lion Mel, you will be deeply missed by everyone whose life you impacted over the years.

Today marks one year since your passing, and it remains a difficult reality for us to accept. We still struggle to replicate the exceptional contributions you made, and your absence is deeply felt, my best friend and brother. Nevertheless, we continue to keep your memory alive by preserving the family and club you cherished. We love and miss you dearly, Christian A Hidalgavic.

Today was an inspiring day spent with the dedicated team from The Kindness Project Kindness Project. It was truly remarkable to witness their compassion in action as they supported individuals experiencing homelessness by distributing sweaters, boots, and jackets, feeding them mac and cheese and muffins and cookies. Their commitment to uplifting the community is evident, and as they continue to grow, I have no doubt they will make an even greater impact on the City of Brantford.

As a Lion, it was an honour to see their hard work firsthand and to stand alongside an organization so deeply aligned with our values of service and kindness.

We are asking for help from our friends and families. Help Stipley Lions Club make some kids very happy this Christmas; we are asking you to donate a new or unopened toy. All donated toys will be going to The Hamilton Dream Center.

Stipley Lions Club invited MP Ned Kuruc to meet the club in September. We had a great meeting and chat about what we can do to help East Hamilton and its surrounding areas. We had no clue that he was bringing us recognition from Parliament, but he did, and we thank Ned for the recognition for outstanding leadership and service. Our past president, Lion Jay, also received one for his work outside of the club and all he does for his community. It has been crazy busy for me over the last four months, starting my own business; I will be better about updating the community on events, etc., moving forward.
